I emailed Him. It does have my name on it.

Anybody live near him who can remove the 20BP4 before I bid/win/ship the beast?

Anybody?

Hmmm: Competition :dammit: ... I put 1st bid on it yesterday, but we have a brotherhood here on AK, and it's not my intent to run it up if someone else wants it worse than I do.

I live in Ventura County, CA, so I'm about 8 hours away. If I did win, and I sure would like to have that set, I'd go get it on a Dallas commute in the next month or so. I think that's the same set that was in a thrift shop there a year or so ago.

Naaa. You take it Charles. I can wait.

I've got a 1950 Zenith "12 Porthole Model 2350 that I'm in the midst on. It's coming along fine.

Good Luck!

Hold on -- you spied it in a thrift and passed it up? You and I need to have a little talk :nono:

Hope you get it. A handsome beast, but I'm in the wrong part of the world, as usual.

If it's the same one, it was spied by another AKer first, and I didn't want to swoop in on it. But if it's the same one, and now it's on eBay, I'd like to go for it. There was a thread about it; I'd say 18 months to 2 years back.

You bought it, didn't you, Charles...

Congrats!

Thanks, but it wasn't me... I only bid $201.01. I wish I had won, and I think $800 isn't too bad, but it's not in my vintage TV budget just now. I just bought another old car that I haven't even picked up yet, and my wife would have had something to say about a $800 TV that isn't even color or stereo....

So did an AK member get this set???

The high bidder called the owner and said his wife was not going to let him buy the tv, so I got a second chance offer and bought the set. I have Craters and Freighters set to pick it up and ship. Based on the advice of another forum member, I am looking to see if anybody is in the Phoenix area that could pull the ion trap and focus coil off before moving the set and shipping.

Thanks in advance

His Wife said he couldn't buy it...that's pretty weak.

His loss is your gain.

That's eBay-ese for, "I was really drunk when I made that bid and now I don't want to pay that much money."

My wife wouldn't have said I couldn't buy it, but she might have bought another horse, or allowed another of her cats to get pregnant again... That would be an OK deal, if I had won the set for my $200 bid. I kinda knew I wouldn't win it for that, but you never know.
