Finally found a tube console after not seeing anything but BPC for the past few years, AND it works! It's an RCA console with a chassis I am not familiar with. It's a CTC-28C. Chassis design is alot like a CTC-16. Tube is a 25XP22 with a code date of 1968. Does anyone else have a CTC-28? I wasn't even aware of it. Am going to test all tubes and place it in my "office" as a daily watcher. Also found a CTC-7 at the same sale, but haven't powered it up yet.

I'd have to go look... Doesn't ring a bell, and I've worked on possibly thousands of 60s RCA sets. Curiosity is perked!

nice finds. I fixed a ctc-28 for a friend up in milwaukee about 2 weeks ago. It was a sharp set. What model 7 did you find?

I am new here, and am not quite sure what a "cataract problem" is. Is that a reference to de-lamination/weathering/color change of the bonding material between the crt and the safety glass? What is the "Fix".
Does anybody re-pot these tubes? :scratch2:

Hey Doug,
My CTC-28 has a great pix, but the horizontal is touchy. I was running it in the garage tho on a VCR/DVD combo unit. I'll have to try a DTV box and see if it's any better. All the IF tubes were shorted and the 6KZ8 was bad, so those are on order.
Looked at my other set. It's a CTC-4A and is the "Director 21" I haven't even attempted to power it up. Something in fron of the yoke is pretty burnt on that one, unless it is the yoke.
It had an RCA sales tag in it, and it matched the address and name of the house I was at.

Lots of great info buried in there.
I seem to recall a -28 being discussed in the last year; I think it may have been a lower-cost chassis that RCA offered.
