First of all, I couldn't resist being the first to post in here:yes:. Now, I have a '95 Toshiba 32" set that had bad caps in the Vert. section and even before I took the chassis out it died and now the relay clicks, the red light blinks, the relay gets really hot and that's it. Any thoughts? I went ahead and did the recap and it is still just blinking. Maybe I wrecked that big I.C. in the power supply that's near by, I know heat and or static are death for those. Thanks in advance for any tips:thmbsp:

Does anyone have access to Toshiba I.C. cross numbers to see if I can get a hold of an I.C. for the power supply?

Gee Mark I wish I could help ya. The newer stuff is where I get lost. If your relay gets hot it's either a direct short and blinking led and clicking relay is a standby issue. Did you check the usual suspects like horiz out transistor for shorts and such?

Hey Mark.. Remember tritronics? I remember them telling me about ordering parts on a component level, check out digikey.com. I had to order some sound output IC's for a magnaxox tv/vcr/dvd combo last year.

Thanks Shawn, I'll check those out. I checked a lot of the stuff for shorts but not everything. I too get lost with the new stuff, hell I probably broke it.LOL

Have you tried unsoldering the vertical ic to see if that could have shorted when the caps went bad? I've only seen that cause a shutdown condition on projection sets not a crt set though, but just a thought on something to check.

Thanks guys! I tracked down some of the problems but the customer decided to get a flattie and threw out the set, I have the chassis at home. I guess I'll take the caps off that I changed and throw the rest away if no one needs it. Thanks again for the help!

I gave up on it as the owner no longer wanted it fixed, otherwise I was going to post them.
