These are real rare. I *might* go after this, even though I have no room what so ever. I've seen this cabinet before at numerous estate sales. Everytime though, the TV was gutted. The seller says its a '71, but its actually a '73 and it has the SC600X remote. Its got the horizontal solid state chassis, a 25DC58 I believe. What a great chassis. That TV will last forever if taken care of.

I hope you, or someone, can save it! I was thinking back and I don't recall ever having a Zenith combo of any age. The Magnavox combos were very common around here and, besides the RCA CTC25 combo that I have, I've only seen 1 or 2 RCA's.

That is nice, I spotted it a few days ago. I'd like to have it for a daily tv but no room.

That console is huge, Doug (I just looked at the picture of it on Chicago CL). If you say you have "no room whatsoever" for it, I'm curious to know where on earth you would put it once you got it home. Hmmm. :scratch2:

I would like to have it. Wonder if I could talk the wife into a trip to Chicago week after next? Maybe.......... Will it fit in a Dodge Caravan?

Ummmm...No. However, the Caravan may fit in the Zenith.

I have a standard wheelbase Voyager (Caravan) and there's about six feet between the front seats and the tailgate. You could remove the front passenger seat to gain another 1.5-2 feet if it was something you really wanted

Those Zenith combos win the HEAVY prize... Even heavier than a Magnavox!

great, thats not what I wanted to hear. I always thought the Mags were the ultimate back breakers. Never had to move a 70's zenith combo before though.

My Zenith roundie combo broke my back by the time I got it to it's final spot. I laid in front of it for hours the first night, thankful it worked so I could stay still.

Can someone describe this set? The ad has been deleted.

Was this an Avanti style set?

Not an avanti, but if its something you want Chris, let me know, I'll pick it up for you. I just don't have the room but these are the best. Still waiting on a parts 25DC56 set for a tuner for mine.

This is in working condition and was used daily up until last month.

Hmmm... Victim of digital transition?

Oddly I spotted an identical set in the Phoenix craigslist when I was out there last week. Not my style of cabinet, but a beautiful set. I'd like it better if it had doors on the TV.

This could very easily be a daily-user home entertainment system.

I wonder why the former owner didn't hook it up to a converter box or cable--that way he could have gotten a few more years' use from the TV, and a better picture besides. However, it could have been that the owner either got a new HD flat-panel, or just didn't have room for a large console by virtue of having to move into smaller quarters such as an apartment or a condominium.

I did email and ask about the doors, which it should have. He said he still had them and would put them back on

Well I have someone who would give the set a good "retro appropriate" home... Just need to work the logistics.
