Just noted that the death of Karl Malden has been announced. He was 97. (97!!! I thought he was well into his 80s...but 97????) One of the true greats...proving that you didn't need matinee idol looks to make it in Hollywood.

He was the nemesis of the orig. 'fugitive' TV show and everyone hated him for being so mean to the sweet doctor. His unique facial features made him what he was. A great actor. Liked hin in Streets if SF.

I loved Karl Malden's work; Baby Doll, a 1956 film directed by Elia Kazan and in which Malden appeared with Eli Wallach, and Carroll Baker, is among my favorite US films, and not in least due to Malden's outstanding performance as the down-trodden Archie Lee.
You had a great run, Karl. We will miss you. Rest in peace forever. :tears:

When I was little, Streets of San Francisco had me hooked.
