Hemingray 05-25-2009, 09:26 AM Looks useful if you need a cabinet for a loose chassis...
Phil Nelson 05-25-2009, 10:48 AM Has it been sprayed with polyurethane? I could be wrong, but it seems to have that too-shiny look. Check out the knobs, for instance. I would ask the bidder for more info.
I saw that exhibit several years ago. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was an awful conglomeration of stuff, including gutted TVs, some painted gaudy colors.

kx250rider 05-25-2009, 11:38 AM It does look too shiny, but I need the front plastic bezel. I haven't bid yet, but I'd rather use that one for parts than to scrap a whole VT-71 for the bezel.

Eric H 05-25-2009, 03:23 PM Maybe it's the knobs they're after, those are really hard to find for some reason.
Who knows if they're usable or not, they may have been glued on permanently.
stromberg6 05-25-2009, 04:28 PM " Its insides have been removed for hanging"! The death penalty for a VT-71!
Oh well, at least they didn't trash the cabinet.

Tube TV 05-25-2009, 11:51 PM currently $76.50 with 4 days left , it will sell for around what a whole sell would be worth .
bandersen 05-26-2009, 02:10 PM it will sell for around what a whole sell would be worth Geez, it's already higher than I paid for any of mine.
Maybe it's the knobs they're after, those are really hard to find for some reason.
2 of my 3 didn't have any and they're in really bad shape on the one that does. The surface has deteriorated with a white, chalky film. I believe they are made from an early plastic rather than sturdy bakelite. Perhaps that's why they're scarce ?
bandersen 05-28-2009, 12:48 PM It's up to $310  I'm tempted to rip the insides out of mine, spray it with poly. and throw it up on eBay too!
7"estatdef 05-28-2009, 12:55 PM I'll bet some one thinks it has a really nice bright raster! $310 wow

Eric H 05-28-2009, 01:20 PM Too much Monkey business going on here.
Does it have more Cachet because it was in Epcot Center? Whoop-de-doo.
If it was signed by Walt himself maybe.
bandersen 05-28-2009, 02:54 PM Too much Monkey business going on here.
Especially since someone else (http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorola-Tube-Type-Table-Top-TV-7-Round-Picture-Tube_W0QQitemZ390054740276QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item5ad1130134&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116) is selling one BIN for $125 with all the 'insides' and knobs.
edison64 05-28-2009, 09:24 PM Looks like 3 of those tan knobs came of the tan leatherette cased model...
zenithfan1 05-28-2009, 11:18 PM I can't believe how stupid people are, $310 is just retarded. What do they think they're getting? Like Eric said, Epcot Center....whoop-de-do. Effin people these days.........
Strange. Those knobs are hard to find, but they're not worth that much. If you look, it was just 2 guys that bid it way up, and notice that the high bidder raised his bid 3 times since he outbid the other guy.
jonboy55 05-30-2009, 08:37 AM I purchased the same TV on Ebay about 5 weeks ago. It was a pickup only here in Long Island, NY. I paid $33.00! The CRT tested good.
If the TV was working with the original box, it still wouldn't be worth anywhere near this amount.
This looks like some kind of joke or game.
Maybe the seller has 10 complete ones in his basement and plans to sell them at a higher price by driving up the value.
jonboy55 05-30-2009, 12:51 PM I emailed the guy to ask about the knobs.
He answered and said the knobs are glued on.
zenithfan1 05-30-2009, 02:05 PM So someone paid all that for a total piece of crap in other words.
