I remember reading that somewhere. Probably one of those early 80s Trinitrons that weighed 1.2 billion pounds and had a 26" CRT. Celt 04-03-2009, 02:13 PM There's a close up of it in the movie and yes, it's a Sony. There's also a small portable Sony in the kitchen. wilkes85 04-03-2009, 04:48 PM There's a close up of it in the movie and yes, it's a Sony. There's also a small portable Sony in the kitchen. Sounds like product placement to me. Keefla 04-03-2009, 05:34 PM Sounds like product placement to me. another sony product placement movie: White Noise! About every possable chance they get theres a sony logo somewhere in the shot. Sandy G 04-03-2009, 07:42 PM Talk about Product Placement-Remember the SONY monitor that figured prominently on Judge Ito's desk during the OJ fiasco ? zenith2134 04-03-2009, 07:49 PM Sony has a music, tv, and movie division, so it's no wonder they're featured in many programs! Celt 04-03-2009, 08:45 PM Talk about Product Placement-Remember the SONY monitor that figured prominently on Judge Ito's desk during the OJ fiasco ? He was actually watching Judge Judy! :D andy 04-03-2009, 09:32 PM 000 kx250rider 04-04-2009, 11:28 AM Sony KV-2649R. Charles Sandy G 04-04-2009, 12:14 PM I'm STILL kinda sore at Sony for pulling the plug on the Trinitron...I guess that 36" one will hafta do for a long, long time...I wish I coulda got one of the 40" or 43" CRT sets, but people in You-Know-Where also would like Ice Water... Celt 04-04-2009, 12:27 PM About a year before I joined AK I bought a 27" Sony Trinitron from Crutchfield. The audio board was dead in the water on arrival. I figured I might as well look inside to see if there was anything I could do to resolve the problem before going through the hassle of returning it, thinking it might be a loose cable or board. Anyway, the "Made in Mexico" sticker should have tipped me off, but imagine my dismay when I saw a Gold Star picture tube inside. Needless to say it went right back for a full refund. zenith2134 04-04-2009, 06:16 PM Celt, I feel your pain. In 2004 we bought a brand new KV-27FS120 and the CRT was bad as of 2007. Before that, it used to shut down or not want to start up. Made In Mexico as well, but I *think* had a genuine Sony tube..(?) either way, not happy. freakaftr8 04-23-2010, 01:31 AM Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but thought this was kinda cool.. The Sony from Poltergeist in on ebay (well not the same one) but looks identical, a few model #'s off though.. http://cgi.ebay.com/26-SONY-TRINITRON-WOOD-CABINET-T-V-W-REMOTE-KV-2645RS-/200450226257?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item2eabc3b851 Zenith26kc20 04-23-2010, 09:06 AM Sony made a 43 incher? Give my back a break! What did it weigh??? It took four of us to move the 40 inch. Remember the Mitsubishi 40's? Hated them! The people who brought you Pearl Harbor (and millions of leaky electrolytics)!!!! YamahaFreak 08-30-2010, 12:29 AM Sony made a 43 incher? Give my back a break! What did it weigh??? It took four of us to move the 40 inch. Remember the Mitsubishi 40's? Hated them! The people who brought you Pearl Harbor (and millions of leaky electrolytics)!!!! Sorry to bump this old thread, but a forty-three-inch Sony Trinitron CRT?! I wanna see that! I'd think anything bigger than 40 inches would collapse in upon itself and form a black hole! :D RCAkid 01-18-2011, 05:44 PM Saved this cool old Sony. It will soon be on its way. While it is not the exact model...pretty darn close KV-2645RS, I have always wanted one of these sets and it will soon be at my house thanks to Uship. It was way cheaper to do that than to take the trip to get it. Anyway, glad to bring it home....just hope there are no ghosts in it. :c) Sandy G 01-18-2011, 08:05 PM Sony made a 43 incher? Give my back a break! What did it weigh??? It took four of us to move the 40 inch. Remember the Mitsubishi 40's? Hated them! The people who brought you Pearl Harbor (and millions of leaky electrolytics)!!!! IIRC, as read here, they DID make a gollywhopper 43" tube set-Most of 'em were studio monitors, I think the civilian version cost about a gazillion bux. And the more "Normal" 40" Trinitrons were an iffy proposition-They were "Available" this week, but not the next, and "available" the week after that...Like I said elsewhere, I'm still "Ticked" at Sony for pulling the plug on Trinitrons... jr_tech 01-18-2011, 08:41 PM Nice old thread here about large CRTs: http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=192944 jr |
