View Full Version : Worst Tv Show
rvito 03-23-2009, 11:56 AM What is your pick for the Worst show on Television??
My vote is Dog the Bounty Hunter. That wife of his needs A Diet bad. If I were a perp and seen her coming towards me with that Giant Caboose and those 80XXX's flapping in the breeze I would run like hell too. And now you got repo man, I thought dogs wife was bad, his is worse.
rlwagoner 03-23-2009, 11:59 AM Wow, that's like defining the color blue. Just way too many to mention. I'd probably start with all of the "reality" shows.
anytune 03-23-2009, 12:19 PM I'd probably start with all of the "reality" shows.
Agreed. The only thing real about reality TV is that it's real-ly dreadful! :thumbsdn:
gladiator335 03-23-2009, 12:23 PM OC, Hills, Keeping with Kardashians...do I have to name more?
Or, Bus of Love or whatever it's called. OMG! As bad as it gets.
AnalogDigit 03-23-2009, 12:23 PM I remember these from the 70's, because there so bad:
Holmes and Yoyo. About a cop who has a robot partner.
Pink Lady and Jeff. It was a variety show about a comedian with two Japanese girls who don't speak a word of English. I think it lasted only two shows.
Today I pick all those reality shows except Cops which is my favorite. I also like Kitchen Nightmares.
Tony V 03-23-2009, 12:30 PM All reality shows are crap!
Sandy G 03-23-2009, 01:34 PM What was/is that dreadful show on MTV about a pimp trying to find a girlfriend/another ho ? Just the thing for MTV's pre-teen/teen audience to watch...
saltwater 03-23-2009, 01:43 PM LOST! How the hell is that fat guy still fat, also how did the find a vw bus and a jeep? It dont make sence, if gilligan can build a boat why cant they? come on, you dragged it on enough..
Hells kitchen too. Id choke that guy, then beat him w/ a fryin pan, I wouldnt take that abuse. "yes chef" He cant treat people like that, thats degrading.. I have worked for people that think their shi* dont stink, just cause they got money, I tell them to stick it where te sun dont shine. and live in my shoes, look at it from my angle, YOU DONT OWN ME. I provide a service that you pay me for, where does it say you own me? im ranting sorry...
But lost and hell kitchen are my picks..
Sam Cogley 03-23-2009, 01:46 PM 99% of TV is crap, and one of the best shows in the history of the medium signed off last Friday, leaving us with the creeping desert of the TV wasteland...
merrylander 03-23-2009, 01:55 PM Newton Minnow said it was a vast wasteland, glad he is not around to see that it has become an open sewer on the four networks. Good thing there is Discovery and the History channels - and PBS when they are not raising money.
KentTeffeteller 03-23-2009, 02:25 PM Reality TV is easily the worst on TV. Headline News is getting as bad. The Caylee channel. That female host is the worst. Also, let's get rid of The 700 Club while we're at it.
shrinkboy 03-23-2009, 02:26 PM which show was it that signed off last friday, sam cogley?
calling the reality shows 'bad' is like shooting fish in a barrel-- its obvious, its easy, and of course, the producers would undoubtedly be the first to admit its bad.
but let's get into the realm of the truly bad, the awful, the stench filled, the so bad it makes your eyes water...., in other words, the stuff that had budget, and effort, and talent grotesquely misused, stuff that is some misguided as to spark terminal incredulity, and you know i'm talking about ....My Mother the Car-- Jerry van Duyk, Zsa Zsa Gabor
ducati_EL34 03-23-2009, 02:30 PM Besides the usual Reality shows, and sitcoms, I would say "Brothers and Sisters".
BigManAndy 03-23-2009, 02:44 PM Everything on TV besides:
South Park
Simpsons
Family Guy
King Of The Hill
American Dad
30 Rock
My Name Is Earl
Mythbusters
Dirty Jobs
Ghost Hunters
Paranormal State
thats about it for shows that are still in the business, didn't mention any shows that are strictly re-runs. wow, is it sad that most of the stuff i watch is cartoons, not kid cartoons, but still. ha ha

The much-acclaimed Battlestar Galactica.
lowmileage 03-23-2009, 03:33 PM :dammit: There hasn't been a show worth watching since Northern Exposure went off the air. Worse show now:scratch2:, Orange County Choppers. :thumbsdn:What a disfunctional bunch.
JohnVF 03-23-2009, 03:59 PM American Idol.
Why? Because while most TV programs make me think that the judgment of corporate owned networks is questionable, this show makes me realize that most people have no desire to be entertained by anything challenging. The networks give the people crap, the people vote on what the best crap is, and then they go out and buy the crap that the voted on crap puts out on CD. And the host is an a-hole.
vegabass25 03-23-2009, 04:04 PM Any of those goddamn celebrity bitch shows and the hills.

Amen to that ! despite the fact that I have allsorts of firearms of every size & description, I am basically a calm & peaceable man. However, if I ever caught that walking spincter Keith Olbermann out, I would be SORELY tempted to shoot him w/many small caliber, low-power bullets, in an effort to try to inflict as much pain on him as he has inflicted on a LOT of us...Either that, or buy him for what he's actually worth, & then sell him for what he THINKS he's worth...You could solve the Banking Crisis in one fell swoop, & give ALL AIG employees a hefty bonus...Mbwahahahaha...
rickr15 03-23-2009, 04:15 PM Anything with Rosie Odonnell.
ricksegrs 03-23-2009, 07:24 PM Why do you think they call television a medium...Because it is rarely well done.
derekva 03-23-2009, 07:29 PM The much-acclaimed Battlestar Galactica.
TV is a vast wasteland without BSG. However, you should give "Mad Men" a try - it's pretty good. I've also heard that "Breaking Bad" is good as well.
And I have a soft spot for "How I Met Your Mother" - Barney Stinson FTW.
-D
keith olbermann rocks!!! thank GOD for him and his truth telling!
'red eye' on fnc sucks big time. i try to see any humor there but it is non-existant, imo.
caddisgeek 03-23-2009, 07:47 PM As a scientist I find any of the new(ish) breed of forensic shows like CSI, NCIS, and worst of all Bones (so bad, I find myself compelled to watch it sometimes) particulalry offensive.
Amazing how someone can be a analytical chemist, molecular biologist, ballistics expert all at once (wow thats about 15 years of university right there) and still not know how unsafe it is to eat in a lab.
Oh, and we dont work in the dark like they do on CSI
And how come these "experts" have to constantly explain the most basic concepts to each other
And gunshot residue is a myth
And why do all the computer programs have flashing red lettering that says MATCH in big letters when ever it gives the results
I could go on but my head wil explode

I agree.American Idol,by far.
First, you have the head of a record Label that produces and sells the most bland, conservative pop music you can think of(ol' Simon),and his opinion is considered expert and informed.Second, the judges all reinforce the pop stereotypes by their choices:The scruffy faced "rock" singer, the perfect looking country singer, the belt it out diva, etc.
Third, you have the public thinking that they have a hand in crowning a champion, but thats only by default, since the choices are so bland and limited to begin with.
Geez, can you imagine if Idol had been around in the past?Forget about Willie Nelson,Frank Zappa,Beck,George Clinton.I bet they wouldnt even let Bob Dylan into the building to audition.

Mr. Lin 03-23-2009, 09:59 PM Agree with a lot of what's been named, I'd add Little People, Big World. That shows just ticks me off, it's so melodramatic, and their lives are not exciting at all.
However, Mad Men is surprisingly good, but I've just been renting it through netflix, can't take the ever-increasing amounts of commercials on cable, it's completely out of control. Oh, I like Nip/Tuck too, now that I've actually given it a chance, because it looks bad in the commercials.

centralflori 03-23-2009, 10:23 PM There is nothing sadder than seeing the lengths these people will go to just so they can be on tv. They even think that there is something compelling about how they act or maybe it's all a scripted act. Either way it is amazing that there is an audience for this. I'm referring to the reality shows like Survivor or Big Brother or the celebrity reality shows for the most part.:screwy::boring::stupid::nutz::puke2::bash:
I think those are the smilies that cover it.

HIMYM and Two and a Half Men are required watching on Monday nights. I've watched a bit of Mad Men but haven't really been able to get into it, but I love Burn Notice. House is another one I've started to get into.
tboat4 03-23-2009, 10:32 PM The View :yuck:

vegabass25 03-25-2009, 01:35 PM Judge shows. I basically cannot stand them.
Duane 03-25-2009, 02:16 PM and PBS when they are not raising money.

Hifirob2 03-25-2009, 02:32 PM It seems the only thing I turn the TV on for anymore is Sunday nights on Fox. Everything else is garbage - even the "news" is so over-produced, it isn't news anymore - it's entertainment for people with very short attention spans....(PBS news exempted)
But did anyone see Family Guy this past Sunday??. A show on FOX that can poke fun at the disgustingly bad FOX News Network has my vote. Ann Coulter playing the refrigerator in their break room was, by far, the funniest moment so far that I've seen. I almost fell off the couch.

HAHA yeah i saw that episode!
Gregoire 03-25-2009, 02:49 PM I love reality TV...as long as it's live sports!
Also, the worst TV show EVAH would be "Small Wonder", a syndicated s#it-com from the early 1980's about a guy who builds himself a robot pre-teen "daughter" Awful...
fau5tu5 03-25-2009, 03:15 PM I'm with everyone, in detesting "Reality TV".
I read Niel Postman's book "Amusing Ourselves to Death" (brilliant and highly recommended) in college and much of it really "STUCK" with me.
It focuses on the causes and affects of Television and communication mediums in general with social evolution...
Written in 1985, with many projections and predictions that could now simply be read as "History", one of the "absurd" predictions according to some critics was that eventually people in our society would be more interested in watching their neighbors or strangers go through their daily mundane lives, than to simply live their own. Perceiving it as "Entertainment"...
Absurd,?.. Ridiculous?, Stupid?... Maybe.. but now FACT!!!
We (general society) appreciated "Watching someone else experience life more than we actually appreciate experiencing it ourselves"
The fact that millions of people will sit down for hours a day to simply watch other people buy groceries, fix dinner, talk with family etc.. is Horrifying.
He was simply right.. And that was pre Internet Reality......
But there was ONE TV Show that was worse than all others .... EVER..
Super Bowl XXV.

:nono: He wouldn't know the truth if it bit him you-know-where.
The worst show has got to be Real Time w/ Bill Maher, but to explain that may break the rules.
ablethevoice 03-25-2009, 04:00 PM With the exception of Jeopardy, 2 or 3 good classics on TCM, and a vanishingly small percentage of programming on NGC, History, Science, PBS, and the Military channel, my vote is everything. And when something does come on which sounds like it won't totally suck, I don't watch it "live"; I fire up the VHS, tape the show and run the tape later so I can skip the &^%*^&%*^%$ commercials.
Ever since FX wound up The Shield (which I watched from season 1 ep 1) even they haven't had anything worth stopping on. Not counting Jeopardy (2 1/2 hrs/week) and the remastered original Star Trek (2 hrs/week), I don't watch very much TV. I'll scan from bottom to top of the 400 or so channels DirecTV provides and switch the damn thing off in disgust.
Oh, and while we're on the subject of "TV sucks": WTF is it with networks who air 14 episodes of THE SAME SHOW?? CSI, House, Lost, Twin Peaks, Married With Children back to back all damn day long...
:nono: He wouldn't know the truth if it bit him you-know-where.

FAU5TU5 = Die Hard Bills fan..
The fact that people use the term "Buffaloed" differently now, and there are terms universally understood in Sports like "Wide Right" "Norwood" "Music City Miracle" etc.. etc...
Being a Bills fan isnt easy..
And the pain started with that game..
That game still hurts....

Bills should have won... and this is coming from a 'Skins fan!
So the other three SB's were less painful? They weren't close games like the Giants game... is that why?
ke4jhj 03-26-2009, 10:04 AM Rosie Live!
There are a lot of bad shows, but how many get cancelled after one episode? This one did (deservedly so). Actually I bet the decision was made to cancel this turkey during the second commerical break!:D

I figured as much. For character development reasons though, I like NCIS.

Don't forget Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. :puke:
I was dating a girl recently who claimed that Justin Timberlake is one of the best musicians who ever lived. :screwy:
Oddly, Star Search had quite a few good comedians, though.

Not attacking you but the "idea", Thats BS! Everyone knows this stuff is mostly "fake" thats why its called "Entertainment" if they made a show like "real life" they would still be on the FIRST EPISODE! Trying to figure out whos prints or sperm was on some object.
I hate when people say, we are not like CSI(no other shows and real life issues)....No flippin shyt idiots, its Called TV!!!! And as for correction there is such thing as GSR just not as much as CSI protreays it to be.
Hinces "entertainment" , now granted I hate reality shows to but CSI and CSI: Miami are the most watch shows in the USA much less the world.
I hate reality shows, and PAID PROGRAMMING LOL
caddisgeek 04-25-2009, 04:11 AM Just coz it's the most watched show in the US, doesn't mean it's not stupid. I know TV shows don't mirror real life, but some intelligent scripts would go a long way.
godzilla 04-25-2009, 08:19 PM All reality t.v. is terrible!
Everything on the Fox News Channel.
Most of the stuff on public access ESPECIALLY the "Legalize Pot" shows. Hey, I believe pot shouldn't be illegal BUT some of those NORML bozos on public access make Cheech and Chong sound like Aristotle and Einstein.
E!, Access Hollywood, and all those other celebrity gossip shows. All that tv time devoted to complete BS. I really don't care that Johnny Depp went to Planet Hollywood or Lindsey Lohan is or isn't a lesbian, or whether-or-not Britney wears drawers. I DON'T CARE!
ESPN and other sports shows going on and on and on and on and on....ad nauseum about the same thing everybody already knows. We already know who won. Why do we have to hear endless bonehead analysis and unfunny guys cracking inane jokes that nobody - especially their broadcast partner - thinks is funny?
BENNY HIN and most other tv evangelists. Send me your money is their point.
Reality shows on MTV.
Big Brother wore out its welcome years ago.
The View.
I could go on for hours and never repeat myself.

Sandy G 04-26-2009, 08:05 AM Bein' this is the buckle of the gawdam Bible Belt, we have about 6-7 "Preacher" channels here, 2-3 "shopping" channels...I shouldn't have to pay for any of it if I don't want it, but Charter says I do...The "preacher" channels are particularly offensive to me, all they are is some fake-ass swindler trying to steal as much money as possible off naive, unsuspecting little old ladies. I DID enjoy the send up somebody did of that penultimate con-artist, Robert Tilton, where they dubbed a soundtrack of him farting very loudly, right when he was really layin' it to 'em...Remember a few years back when one of those fakirs said the Lord would "Call him Home" if he didn't raise such & such by a certain time ? Too bad the sumbich didn't drop dead of a massive heart attack right then & there...
dnewma04 04-26-2009, 08:05 AM The worst is "Dance Party" on WADL in Detroit. It's the hottest dance show on television according to them. It's must see TV here for the unintentional comedy.

Amen!, also Headline News. It seems as though there are a dozen 24 hr networks trying to fill up 24 hours reporting on the exact same things, no matter how trivial. No sane person in their right mind would want to know the level of detail or CONTINUAL coverage of most of the stuff that gets reported. Who in the hell cares???? It's a sad commentary on today's news media, regardless of where one stands.
mjalazard 04-26-2009, 09:52 AM The "Real Housewives..." series is simply horrible!!! It is right up there with "My Super Sweet Sixteen" on MTV. Simply put, these shows that put talentless, filthy-rich, narcissistic, judgmental, a-holes in the spotlight (a Bravo TV specialty) should be off the air. I'm not sure which show is worse.
Sandy G 04-26-2009, 12:09 PM I've caught "My Super Sweet-16" a couple of times, & INVARIABLY its been some semi-obese, rather plain maladjusted skank whose "friends" are only with her because of her moolah...

onliest shows i watch (actually, i listen more than watch as i've seen 'em all a gazillion times) are m.a.s.h., s.t. enterprise, hogans heroes, that's about it. oh, and gunsmoke, bonanza; the good 'ol shows!
oh, and keith olbermanns 'worst peeps in the world' segment.
used to like imus in the morn back afore he got fired. his current radio show has too many commercials for me.
rooster18 04-26-2009, 01:46 PM It's pretty much a giant wasteland. I can't for the life of me understand the appeal of reality shows, but just as bad is the batch of TV dramas that are constantly running. The relationships between fictional characters in their little "teams" of (insert whatever applies to the specific situation -- forensic people on the CSI shows, catty women in "Sex in the City", ridiculous boneheads in that silly Dinosaur show from BBC, whatever that is) is so completely unimaginative and boring, I can't see the point. About all I watch is "Forensic Files" and "Mastermind", and then I'll watch older TV shows sometimes that are timeless (the original Star Trek, Adam-12 once in awhile for nostalgia, Get Smart, Gilligan's Island, you know them all).
The funny thing on this thread is the disagreement over the news shows. Just take a look at the locations of the posters, and then try to say that there are no cultural stereotypes. It took me a minute, but I had to chuckle. Since I'm in Arizona, I'd imagine you can guess who I respect as an "Editorial Performer" (I wouldn't call ANY of them "newsmen" or "journalists"), and who I don't.

What stereotype would that be? :D I hate both FOX and CNN. There just is not content to fill one 24 hr "news" channel, let alone two.
I am a Christian as well, but, dislike the televangelists channels.
The weather channel? That's easy. I can get quicker access to the weather in MY area, by going to weather.com. On the weather channel, I would first have to hear about the forecast for Fargo ND.:nono:

godzilla 04-27-2009, 09:24 AM A list of astoundingly bad t.v. shows is never ending! It's amazing what some people find entertaining.
rooster18 04-27-2009, 11:14 AM I'd also like to throw anything with Danny Bonadouchebag onto the list.
