Ok, one last post before I head off to bed...

Who's seen the movie High Fidelity? It's got John Cusack, Jack Black in one of his earliest roles, and a host of cameos, including The Boss. Cusack's character owns a record store in Chicago, and Jack Black is one of his employees.

This is a great little movie - probably in my top 10 all-time favorites. I'm biased, but I would imagine that most folks who frequent this board would probably dig this movie.

Just wanted to throw that out there. You should make an effort to catch this movie - rent the DVD or whatever. :thmbsp:

You took the words right out of my mouth. That was one of the best parts of the movie. It surprised me, and surprised some of the characters in the movie.

Another good part was when Rob went thru his list of top 5 things he misses about Laura.

Hey, I'm starting to see a common denominator in this movie (the #5). After all, Rob also had a top 5 list of all time breakups, and Barry had a top 5 list of songs about death, and the name of Rob's label (top 5 records).

Around our house we call High Fidelity a "chick flick for guys." Also, why the heck didn't they use the Elvis Costello song "High Fidelity" on the soundtrack? Anyway, a great movie that appeals to men and women. I think you can still find the deleted Beverly D'Angelo scene on youtube (is it on the DVD extras?). Great fun for record collectors...

It's also very accurate to Chicago, and the whole hipster vinyl-junkie mentality. I think the store they used for the interior shots is still in business on Clark, but I haven't been in that location. Also, he wears a "Decibel" t-shirt, which is an audio store on Milwaukee that's still in business where I've bought a number of vintage pieces. The scene at the end with Jack Black's band was shot at the Double Door, a club/bar that is still there though I think it's slated to become a Banana Republic, at least that was the last rumor I've heard about the latest gentrification going on in Wicker Park. Watching the movie is very much like living life as an audio fanatic in Chicago. They really nailed it.

You can still see the deleted Beverly scene where's she's selling her husbands collection for dirt cheap.... Great scene why didn't they put it in the movie????

Hey Slow Jazz...not sure why they didn't put it in the movie, but I think that its probably because it didn't really add anything to the finished film. I don't think it was all that important to show where the record store got its stock/product. That scene was in the original book, though. Oh well...

I have that DVD, one of my favorites along with Dazed and confused (love the music in that one!)

Yeah, the Beverly D'angelo scene is in the DVD extras. Like someone mentioned, it probably didn't really move the story along at all.

That's every audio junkies dream though, isn't it?
