This Raytheon sign mentions color - I didn't know they had color sets, but tvhistory.tv and earlytelevision.org confirm that they advertised first a 15-inch set and then a 19 inch.

Now I'm wondering if anyone has seen one of the Raytheon color sets in the flesh?

Never saw one but I know I want one! If it's Raytheon, it's probably made to a pretty high standard. And even if it's beyond repair, it's going to have a load of quality Raytheon tubes in it! :yes::thmbsp:

The earlier Raytheon sets were advertised as having a plug on the set for a color TV adapter-CBS color. That's what the advertising refers to in the sign pictured. Raython marketed NTSC color sets later on.

I had a Raytheon C-21C1B, which was a 21" 1957-ish set. It used an RCA 21AXP22, and had a very weird high voltage circuit. Upright-standing chassis parallel to the back cover, which swung outward for repairs like a Packard-Bell color set. It was a true Raytheon; not a rebadged CTC-5, as many mid/late-50s low-production color sets were. I had that set in the 80s, and it now lives with another collector here in the LA area. I may have photos someplace, but not easy to lay my hands on. I think it's kind of rare... In fact, I can't think of any others I've seen nor heard of with any collectors.

...and [it] had a very weird high voltage circuit. I have photos of the 15-in. Raytheon PT set; it consists of a color chassis and a video chassis. The Color chassis supplies the focus, convergence, and second anode voltages only. The Video chassis drives the yoke using a 25CD6, a series string version of the 6CD6 used on other 15-in. color sets. There is a power transformer on this chassis with a 5Y3 on top; some of the B+ and parallel-connected 6.3 Vac filaments are driven by this transformer. There is no high-voltage regulator; apparently regulation is adequate when the HV and sweep are separated. Another unusual Raytheon design, although it is just a prototype.

My Raytheon had a single chassis, and I'll try to find that photo... Now my curiosity is going. I seem to think there was also a Sams on it. But I got rid of all my Sams above folder 150 due to space and lack of need, a few years ago.

The 21" Raytheon C-21C1-B is listed in SAMS folder 378-4. This is the only Raytheon color set listed in SAMS. A picture of the 19" Raytheon color and its clone 19" Truetone color receiver can be seen on the ETF site: ETF - 19 Inch Color Sets

While sorting Sams earlier this winter I happened upon one for a 21AXP22 set with an upright chassis and I think it was a Truetone. I meant to post a scan but got busy. I really wondered who might have made it; there was another with the same chassis but I can't recall who...maybe it was the above mentioned Raytheon.
