I bought a huge lot of old computer/videogame/audio equipment at a garage sale yesterday, and in the bottom of the box was a cable box unit and two Zenith Computer Space Command remote controls. They are a little different but both do indeed move the channels up and down on the cable box. 80s-ish styling.

Is there anything cool i can do with these? They are, of course, incompatible with my current cable setup. I am guessing they are useless, but know where to ask for confirmation...

Your best bet would be to find someone that has analog cable that needs them. The only problem is that many of those '80's boxes didn't go above channels in the 30's or 40's. Or, you could use it's switched AC outlet to turn off a non remote TV (or other appliance).

Well, hot damn. Of course it's a switched outlet... Just the thing for a vintage amp with no remote control! Sometimes I just need a little help putting it all together. Thanks!

Well the outlet on/off works fine--hooked it up to my old Kenwood and had some fun turning it on and off. Would be fun to mess around more, but that's functional enough for now. Channel switching "works" as well; the numbers go up to 60.

All in all this was a fun buy--the Colecovision games in this box are worth at least double the $20 I paid and I can always use another phono preamp, I guess. An odd lot, to say the least!
