Nope. Its a mid 50s red portable that's in sad shape. Ge if I recall. I looked at it in november of last year. I tried to explain to her the origin of the set and its age - but she was very stubborn on being educated as well as her pricing methods.

Usually I find that something described as being "one of the first TVs" turns out to be something more like this:

But the really funny thing is if you look this photo up on flickr (http://flickr.com/photos/beigephotos/323448870/), you'll find that people there were moved to leave comments about this "awesome" "old" "retro" "bygone era" artifact!

I can hardly wait til those old first generation plasma sets are considered retro.

I had one of those. I found it in the trash, used it for a year or so until it quit turning on, and I put it back on the curb. Not a bad TV from what I remember but nothing particularly retro. Heck I thought it was pretty new, having touch buttons and an on-screen display. Interesting that something like that is considered retro and cool, yet something like my '56 Admiral portable is junk, and my '53 Philco is a fishtank in the making.
