Here is one of the first arrivals of 2009. It is a Brionvega B/W tv set 24" 12 channels without the remote control of 1977. the model is Mizar2 24". All solid state, Crt ITT. For safety, I replaced all the electrolytic capacitors and did some welding. The cost of TV SET was at 280,000 of italian Lire.

Very interesting design, it looks cool. Way different than the US styles.

Got that right! Look at that circuitboard configuration....very odd when you're used to U.S. sets. I like it though! :thmbsp:

It looks so new to be a 24" monochrome set.

I also find it interesting that they used inches as a unit of measure for TV picture, as (at least I thought) that Italy was a very metric country.

The TV SET is 1977 year. Brionvega brand is famous in Italy for its modern design and innovative, which is why TV shows fewer years than it has. Many items produced in the past have a real cult for collectors and are sold at high prices. the measurement of the screen in Italy is made in inches, in fact the model is called Mizar2 24" where 24 is the diagonal display in inches. Sometimes it is also reported in centimeters.

Like a lot of Italian stuff, it has a LOT of "Eye-Appeal"...Kewl !

prefix in the part number, or is it in millimeters, or what? Thanks in advance

Exact, the CRT is an ITT brand, model A61 120W/2 where 61 are diagonal measure in mm.

I have to say, if I could figure out how to easily find them, and then cheaply ship them, I'd collect European sets like crazy. I really like the design and styling.

I understood what you wanted to say to me like the American TV SET for their style. Here some German factory has tried to make as imitations of tV SET cabinet, but have not been successful,
Brionvega it amounts to as Bang & Olufsen design.

Firenzeprima, i have a 1972 Brionvega Helios B/W set with a hybrid chassis and a white painted wood cabinet, i can barely get it to display some noisy pictures even with strong local signals, there's likely something wrong with the VHF turret tuner or IFs, you can have it if you want it.

I'm not a big fan of Brionvega's "designer" sets, i prefer American styled sets, Philips sets (they have a style on their own) or more conventionally styled Italian sets

Are you sure it's the fault of the tuner? try changing the electrolytic capacitors and a soldering defect anyway.

Brionvega design is special. Like or not like it, sure that B & O is much better. From a technical point of view B & O no project chassis. I happened to repair B & O whit chassis philips or nordmende. I have painful Brionvega technically, chassis that boil, defective welds, difficult accessibility for service.
