Is that a Works in the Drawer set or is that one earlier? Looks like it has those UHF radio buttons like in the Quasar sets.

My friend's mom had a Motorola stereo only console which was really really nice. They must've built good stuff back then.

This looks like the works in a drawer to me...it may be one of the totally solid state models.

A closer look shows the cabinet to be pretty beat!

i think it's a tube set. on the back view it's got more controls than my WID set.

I just looked at the pics of that console. You are absolutely right about the condition of the cabinet. Makes me wonder why the seller says otherwise in the item description. :dunno:

Yup. This model does in fact have the UHF presets, if you supersize and look very closely at the picture. I didn't know until now, however, that the five-button preset arrangement was only used in Motorola Quasar TVs (back when Quasar meant Motorola, not Panasonic--that set must date back to some time before 1974, which was when Panasonic bought the rights to the Quasar name from Moto and started using it on their [Panasonic's] TVs).

You are correct as to the quality of Motorola (and later Moto Quasar) home-entertainment equipment in the '60s and '70s. As the ebay seller says in his item description, they don't make them like that anymore. (I'll say; that cabinet must weigh a ton and measure at least six feet long! And the styling of the thing--beautiful. Now, if it were only in better shape . . .)

BTW, if you supersize the pic of this unit's control panel, you will see something very unusual . . . a headphone jack. I've seen many three-way consoles in my time, but this is the first one I have ever seen with provisions for stereo phones, unless the present owner installed the headphone jack himself.
