Hi Everyone.
Here's a little story about a gift I recieved today. My dad was out, shoveling the snow in our driveway, since it snows a lot in Canada. Of course, I decided I should help him. When I went out, he wasn't there anymore, I knew that he probably went into a friend's garage with other friends or something, since they always do that, so I shoveled alone what was left. After a fiew minutes, I saw my neighboor opening his garage door. I saw my father and another friend comming out of the door. My dad was carrying a radio. I was surprised, you know, my dad is the kind of man who throws all my stuff away because he thinks it's junk :D . I'm more intrested in turntables than radios, but that's what he came back with. Of course, I followed him in the house since I wanted to discover the thing he had in hands. I wasn't impressed by the looks, but he told me that our neighboor bought it around 1953. The radio is a NordMende Globetrotter. He told me to power it on. I turned the knob and sound came ! Now I know why he took it home !! It might be a portable radio, but that thing blows all the portable radios I ever heard !!! The sound is rich, clear, precise, not distorted ! It's probably a tube unit guessing by it's age ?? And it's only powered by batteries, but I saw a power "socket" but I don't have the adapter :tears: . My neighboor said it's the only thing he took with him from Germany when he moved to Canada many decades ago. I'm only 16 and I don't think things I'll buy in 2009 Will last that long... But anyway, I'm so happy with the radio. I'll post pics.
On the side, it says 7.5v for the power adaptor. Is this sold in Canada ?
Sorry for my messed up story, I'm just too happy :P
Here are pics
(( Not pretty from the outside, dirty and all, and missing the back pannel ))
