I got a news tip that Zenith (LGenith?) posted a new video on their site about DTV...and I got a nice surprise whan I watched it! There's a woman from Chicago (of course) talking about how much she liked her old TV and didn't want to have to give it up after February. If I had a set like this, I wouldn't want to give it up either:

Funny enough, there's also a (very nice, i might add) limited edition iMac DV in the video.

Guess who makes the CRT in these for Apple? LG. Actually LG made most everything in old CRT iMacs except the logic board. In my May 2000 Rev. E iMac, LG made:

The CRT
The PAV (Power Analog Video board, a.k.a. a combination CRT chassis/power supply)
The slot-loading CD drive
The down-converter that feeds off the PAV and supplies +5 and +12V to the motherboard
The daughterboard with the reset and programmer/interrupt button
The daughterboard with the power switch
The daughterboard for the two headphone jacks and the amplifying circuit for the built-in speakers

Some slot-loading iMacs used a Chunghwa CRT instead of an LG, but everything else was still LG.

Anyway back to the subject.. was it a coincidence that the computer in the video was mostly made by LG, or did they know? I'm thinking it was the former.

Is it just me or are they using the same stock footage on the antique Zenith to display simulated reception as when they originally made commercials for that era? It looks like it was from a 70's National Geographic special. It could be my mind playing tricks on me, Logan

She thinks a 1972 set is old....AHAHAHAHAHAHA !!! Lady, that's just gettin' started good, 'specially for a Zenith...Now if that was one one those old "Porthole" Zeniths that I lust mightily over, now THAT'S old... Or a Roundie color set like I got sittin' right here....

My gradeschool buddy, and now, my boss at work had one like that old spacey Zenith.

I have one of those Zenith TVs here in the basement. 26" Space Command - silver and black, meant to fit into a corner of a room. I haven't fired it up in a while, but the sound was beautiful, but Monophonic!

It's like the Weather Channel, but it's not.

Great line!

Cool video though... Nice to see a "normal" person that doesn't just want to dumpster an old set. Of course, if I had that awesome looking TV I wouldn't part with it either!
