Looney Toons, Warner Brothers, Chuck Jones all the classic cell toons. Also, Heckle and Jeckle, Tom & Jerry, Atom Ant, Pink Panther, Underdog, Clutch Cargo (one damn weird show, if you've never seen it... I mean WEIRD!) ummm... I'm forgetting something. Oh yeah! Johnny Quest.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of coarse Bugs, but I have a special place in my heart for the Coyote.

My daughter Hanna and I would watch them when she was just a kid, whatever the Coyote did, we would say "This one will work!" or words to that effect. Unless there was a fishing reel involved, cuz those never work.

When he failed we'd both say, "poor Coyote". She still laughs about that.

Looney Tunes always get plenty of airtime around here...even when the grandkids aren't visiting. I love how they instantly "get" old cartoons...my granddaughter's a big Popeye fan, and one of my grandsons has been a devoted Tom & Jerry fan since he was about 3. The beauty of Tom & Jerry is virtually no dialogue...just plot & action. He's the same grandson who instantly "got" Laurel & Hardy as well...I thought he was gonna pee his pants laughing so hard at "The Music Box". (Stan & Ollie attempt to deliver that piano up that lonnnnng flight of stairs.) Gonna see what's on Boomerang when I get home from work.....

I'm not a big fan of the earlier Looney Tunes and don't like a lot of the toons on the Golden Collection(s). Therefore I've assembled my own "Best Of" dvd's with all my faves on them, including some that I found on YouTube (the quality isn't all that bad if you get them in high quality, there's a trick to that) and others that I found out on the net that were never included in the Golden Collection (like "Wet Hare" with my old avatar, Blacque Jacque Shellacque)

We kids would all hope they had a Warner Bros movie playing because generally they'd play a Looney Tune cartoon before the main feature.

Unless, of course, the main feature was a Walt Disney full-length cartoon! :D

Truly one of the greatest American artforms, and a true barometer of the times in which they were made. I have been a fan since I sat in front of the tv on saturday morning laughing at all the funny gags, little did I realize at the time that when I got older and could understand much more of the subliminal humor and inuendo expressed in them that these were not made for little children. In that Golden Era of the wartime toons till the late 50's all the directors and storyboarders were making short stories for the adult population disguised as cartoons for the kiddies. Always a big fan of Chuck Jones toons and the Man of a million voices Mel Blanc, many happy hours have been spent in front of tv watchings these little vignettes of American humor at its finest. I will never forget in 1990 when Warner Bros was celebrating Bugs 50th birthday that they actually showed toons at the movie theaters in Dallas when there was a WB movie showing. In the listings in the paper they would tell you what toon would be showing with the movie and we made a 20 mile trip to see a totally terrible movie-Robocop II-just to be able to watch one of my alltime favorite toons-Feed the Kitty(with Marc Anthony the dog and the little kitten)-that forlorne face when he sees the kitten cookie has always been one of my favorite images from Looney Tunes. Although I still watch the Cartoon Network for some of the Adult Swim shows I have still been unable to forgive them for taking Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies off of their schedule, for without them how can they in all good conscience call themselves the Cartoon Network.

I bought my nephew a boxed set of Looney Tunes quite a few yrs back. he is 12 now.
his friends and the kids he goes to school with have never heard of looney tunes! can you imagine it? you hardly see them on tv anymore.

i grew up with them as a kid... would always watch them in the mornings before going to school ... even when i was in high school. I cant imagine kids not knowing what looney tunes are.

Wow! I use that as an avatar on some other sites! That 'toon has got to be one of my faves.

As I'm a chief engineer for a couple of radio stations, I'm very familiar with "gremlins". So much so, one of my daughters painted an absolutely incredible picture of the Bugs and the little guy for my last birthday, and not to be outdone, my other daughter made a statuette of the gremlin I keep on my bar at home.

Another fan here! :yes: :thmbsp: And another collector of Looney Tunes Laserdiscs. I have several boxed sets and a couple of singles, and periodically pull them out and watch a few, just for laughs and also for a bit of nostalgia. Like many here, when I was a kid growing up, sitting in front of the TV on Saturday mornings and watching those cartoons was one of the highlights of the week!

...and as for the political correctness thing, I'll withhold comment, lest I violate rules on political content in posts. But I will say that I find those old, uncensored Looney Tunes pretty funny! :yes: :D

You can view higher quality versions of You Tube viddies by adding "&fmt=18" to the end of the url. If you download them via www.keepvid.com, do the same and save the high quality link...it will save as an mp4 instead of a flv. If you use the open source DVDFlick to burn, you can then burn right to DVD and enjoy on your own TV. The quality isn't wonderful, but it wasn't on that old 1967 Packard Bell you used to watch them on, either... :D

Yeah, that always p*ssed me off, too, about half..Just put down "1953" instead of "MCMXLIII" or whatever & quit being so feckin' cute...(grin)

Foghorn Leghorn was loosely based on a radio character known as Senator Claghorn...Bugs was envisioned as a 'song and dance man'...Yosemite Sam was brought in when Elmer Fudd proved to be an unworthy adversary to Bunny...'Mac & Tosh' were WB's equivalent of Chip n Dale...fun to see 'cameos' by such as Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre (in at least one of the 'Gossamer' eps), Katherine Hepburn ("I just love cheese!..reaaaally I do!')...unforgettable how Mel Blanc could hit that hysteric upper register in his voice work. That's really, really hard.

Perhaps the greatest cartoon series ever created. I am 22 and as a kid Looney Tunes were my favorite. I can remember ABC (i think) would have an hour time slot for Bugs and the crew on Saturday mornings. About the time I turned 10 or 12 however it seemed all the classic American cartoons started to get replaced with all the Japanese craptoons.

I mean I enjoy Looney Tunes as an adult as there is humor that you miss as a child. These new cartoons just dont do anything for me.

I used to watch the reruns *every* day after school and on Sat mornings. I think of all of 'em Daffy was my favorite particularly the later less hyper crazy duck (e.g., Robin Hood Daffy ... as someone quoted "yoikes and away <thud> yoikes... and away... <thud> ...".

But loved 'em all. Way better than ANY other cartoons before or since. :D
