Hello, all! I just found this forum and I think I'm gonna like it here :) I have been tinkering around with arcade video game monitors for a while, and have a fair grasp on the basic concepts. A couple weeks ago, someone posted a free non-working projection HD TV set (Toshiba 46HX83) in the local CL, and I figured what the heck, might as well see if I can do anything with it.
It looks like there's a little issue with the power supply board. Take a look at the attached schematic if you wouldn't mind.. C809 and C810 are ruptured, F860 is blown to kingdom come (can't even find it!), and Q801 (the big multi-function voltage regulator) has a big hole in it. The rest of the board, the whole TV in fact, looks pristine. Everything upstream of this circuit is just passive components.. The incoming AC line voltage goes through two transformers, and then two relays before it gets to the part you see, with a handful of caps and resistors here and there. The first solid state part it sees is the rectifier, D801. The AC from the transformers feeds a bunch of other circuits too, all of which look fine, so I'm assuming this failure can't be explained by a lightning strike or power surge.
Anyway, I'm thinking I'll replace the obviously-damaged parts, and probably the bridge rectifier too. The caps and fuse can obviously be found anywhere, but the regulator IC and possibly the bridge rectifier (or is there nothing special about this one?) are proving to be a little harder to find. Do I have to buy these from Toshiba, or is there a better alternative?
