ok everyone, tell me what your favorite B movie is and why. I am curious since some of my favorite ones are older B movies that are not on DVD. This country is so capitalistic when it comes to movie availabilty, and some are very hard to find even on VHS or Laserdisc. Some sellers know what they have and ask a stratospheric price for them:(simply because they know you can't get it anywhere else and lack of competition. My favorites are:

8. Meatballs III-Introducing a very young Patrick Dempsey(he doesn't make it known, but he is in fact the grandson of boxing legend Jack Dempsey)
9. Thunder in Paradise-Hulk Hogan and Chris Lemmon
10. Solarbabies-Richard Jordan and Lukas Haas
11. Slipstream-Mark Hamill, Bill Paxton and Kitty Aldridge
12. Hercules- Lou Ferrigno
13. No Holds Barred-Hulk Hogan and "Tiny" Lister Jr.
14. Santa With Muscles-Hulk Hogan
I like all these because I used to have an adventurous spirit when i was a kid and I would believe anything anybody told me, lol! Now I love them because they are a nostalgia trip for me. And because all of these have memorable lines and believe it or not, very good acting, heheh! They are classics now and just plain fun to watch:yes:

God, so many. Most of what movies I do like are B-movies. I'll be posting more in depth later for sure.

Here's one: Return of the Vampire, directed by Lew Landers, starring Bela Lugosi as the vampire of course. This time around he has a Wolfman sidekick who speaks (with a proper british accent), and it all takes place during the London Blitz! A bomb revives him and the poor Londoners have a vampire, a wolfman and the Nazis to worry about.

Yeah... I also went to high school with one of the guys in D.I. who played on the soundtrack for the movie. All the extras in that movie were real deal punks from Orange County, CA. Orange County (especially my area...) was well known for great punk bands. There's some sad stories behind some of those old punkers. Most of the ones I knew are either in jail, dead or are junkies. They were all my freinds since I was a little kid.:tears:

I sincerely doubt that the filmmakers intended for this flick to be a B-movie, but it SO is. Almost impossible to find on VHS, and has never been released on DVD. I've seen it once and I'll never forget it. For all it's faults, and it's got plenty... It's still a great B movie.

I second "Escape from NY" and "Repo Man".
I will add John Carpenter's re-make of "The Thing" and a couple of those 60's sci-fi/adventure flicks such as "Jason and the Argonauts" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth"

October is a great month for B movies. Plan 9 is coming up on TCM soon and I can't wait, even though I've seen it countless times, my enthusiasm remains the same.

Anything by Ed Wood is a pleasure, but I'll mention "Glen or Glenda." It's a must see. "Pull the string! Pull the string!"

My favorite classic of all time is FREAKS: 1932 movie about circus life with real people with deformities. A chilling piece indeed!

yeah man, very cool, guys! There is one more that I failed to mention in my opening list, a 1974 "Blaxploitation" film called "Black Belt Jones", Starring Jim Kelly. One of my all time favorites. My nickname in High scool was big tuna, well before I ever discovered and saw this movie, and I was thrilled to death when I heard the name "big tuna" was used in it, lol! Not just the use of my name but the movie is very well played out and has a great opening scene. unfortunately it is a very hard film to find and the last I knew was not on DVD. I have the original 1975 "VHS" Warner Bros release in a high quality hard cover case. Great movie if you could ever find it to watch:)

I laughed myself nearly sick watching that film! My fave segment: "Is It BULLSHIT.... or Not?" especially the Loch Ness Monster/Jack the Ripper story.

My favorite B movie (actually, it's so bad, it's more like "grade Z" movie) is the worst... WAY worse than Manos- ROBOT MONSTER.

Everything from incomprehensible plot, to absolutely gut busting bad lines, to implied juvenile voyuerism (ie, in a dream sequence, a 9 year-or-so old boy imagines big sister and her boyfriend... well, you get the picture...!)...

The director, Phil Tucker, actually tried to commit suicide, due to the reviews!

Two of my favorites are THE GROOVE TUBE and KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE.

And I don't know if this qualifies as a "B" movie but the great Walter Matthau made a picture in about 1973 called "Charley Varrick" that is about as good as it gets. It's about a small-time bank robber who accidently robs a bank that was laundering mob money and how he escaped their clutches. It was directed by Don Siegel and co-starred Sherri North, Andy Robinson, and Joe Don Baker. EXCELLENT!
