Last week a tv came into receiving from one of the elementary schools, Friday my boss said "When you're here on Sunday for OT Make that thing disappear this weekend" I of course said yes. This thing weighs as much as a console or maybe more. The good thing about the sets from this district is that they have virtually no hours on them, the HV lead and fly are free of dust! It is going to be my "new" living room tv. The smudges on the set are dirt, this thing is almost perfect. First and second pic are on analog, tuner is pretty sensitive, or at least better than a lot that I've seen.

Nice find! That was certainly your lucky day. It's good that this set does not have a ton of hours on it. It will probably last you for years. I was once given an RCA CTC39 school TV; and, it was very clean inside, despite the fact it was 20 years old when I got it. The only time the TV's (RCA tube sets) got used in my elementary school was to watch civil defense safety films from the '50's, some PBS programming, and an occasional "real" movie if we were good.

BTW, if you are ever asked to make any of those old classroom record players "disappear", I might be interested in some (even if they don't work). It seems that my district has already trashed theirs.

I don't care much for those 90s sets with "minimalist" plastic cabinets and dark FST screens, ... i think they look like VGA monitors on steroids!

But worse yet, i've often had a bad time at fixing them, lots of SMDs, weird digital chipsets and processors, and computer designed PCBs with lots of parallel, thin tracks.

Yes...they did......I'm very indifferent on that show. Figured I would try it out.

I'm not a big fan either, But, I AM a big fan of FREE and TV in the same sentence:D. The cabinet is vinyl covered particleboard. Not that it is much better than the plastic but hey, it was FREE!:yes::thmbsp:

dont let them rain on your parade,mark.very nice set. i bought one of those at my neighbors yard sale for 50.00-kids used a magnet on it. degaussed it and gave it to a buddy of mine who is pretty poor.they watch it 24-7.never shuts off!it looks great and they are very pleased with it. he found a 32 ge from the mid 90s and brought it to me. replaced ho transistor and i have it on in my living room all day and night. some of those 90s sets very pretty darn good,like your panasonic.

LOL! I thought i screwed up my computer monitor a couple of times by placing a speaker on top of it, but the problem instantly corrected. Damm Mark your garage looks just as bad as mine! I got to do the usual sort out before winter just so i can get the snowblowers out. Anyways i am amazed the school would throw something like that out. Glad it was saved.

One thing not worried about here in central Texas-snow blowers. You do not shovel heat.
