Freakin insomnia has caused me to be up all night again, and since work is currently slow (which is why I have insomnia), I'm spending the morning watching this excellant movie. Gregory Peck, David Niven... 6:30 CT on AMC:tresbon:

I just got done working my night shift and came home to find it on AMC also it is one of my favorites as well!
But since I have it on DVD its far better of course than my cable connection so I broke out my DVD. I use to have it on the old laser disc as well.
:scratch2:Another favorite of mine is Squadron 633 with Cliff Robertson around the same Vintage which I couldn't find the other day. I think you might enjoy!
Anyway I second The Guns of Navarone as an all time classic! :thmbsp:
And don't forget the sequel to the Guns of Navarone, Force 10 from Navarone with Harrison Ford and Robert Shaw and others!

David Niven is one of my all-time favorites, and Guns of Navarone is particularly good. :thmbsp:

Saw an interview with Harrison Ford in which he said Shaw was basically drunk as a skunk during every scene of Force 10. Carried it off well IMHO.

Thanks for the imfo KC and I guess I would agree!
In his Bio here they said he indeed had alcohol issues!

Force Ten from Navarone was his second to last film he did he was just 51 when he pasted away from a heart attack. Man that's young.
I also like him in the Battle of the Bulge and Black Sunday.
He also fathered 9 children! A busy man!
Again thanks KC

The Guns of Navarone is one of those that permanently resides in the Pantheon of Guys' Movies. A classic, best enjoyed with a couple of like-minded fans and a case of beer.
Robert Shaw was fantastic. I'd say his best was probably Jaws. Or maybe Battle of the Bulge: "Let the boy go. Shoot the father instead..."

Great movie.
I thought the book was better though. IMO no one could do a plot twist like Alistair Maclean

"Guns" has been in my all-time Top 5 from the get-go. My buddies and I saw EVERY showing when it hit my hometown...then immediately attempted to re-create it in the woods and hills.
