I finally got around to fixing an old B&W Ampex video camera, that i found at a antique store. It is a CC-324, which according to a place on the web was made in 1965-67. It just needed some caps and a resistor in the built in video modulator. It has outputs for video and RF on channel 3. now i can now broadcast video in B&W low D , Logan

That is really cool! Amazing how big the cameras were in those days.

I just noticed that there is a tiny pic of me on the tv, I almost look like Alfred Hitchcock. The camera is about 14 inches long and it is heavy, all the metal you see is cast aluminum or steel, it weighs almost 10 lbs. This camera came with one ot the first consumer reel to reel video recorders. Here is a link to the expert who has a site about obsolete video recorders.

OMG!! Great site!! I was always wondering what format that old vcr i was given in the 80s was..

I had the quasar VR-1000 with the VX tape..

It gave up the ghost in the early 90s... all i have is the VX tape with some adult content i wish to retrieve and i believe i still have the video head from the unit...

Power supply built in, just plug it into 120v, connect a composite video cable to your vcr or a couple of feet of wire to the RF output and turn your tv to channel 3. it will give a viewable picture for 15 feet away from the camera. I guess if you used a rf cable you could get 150 feet distance between camera and tv set. Logan

Nah! your not sick Sandy. If I had the bucks and space i would collect enough broadcast gear to match Chuck Pharis's collection.
I feel real guilty about some of the things i threw away 20 years ago, like a GE 3 tube broadcast camera with tripod, Conrac roundie color monitors. etc. But I am glad Chuck has the time and space to preserve part of the early broadcasting history.

I don't think i ever posted the camera I found a couple years ago at a hamfest. Its a Panasonic from the early 70s, I would guess. Similiar in size to the Ampex. Thing works pretty good, for what it is. Cost me a buck. The Ampex definately trumps mine, though, for coolness!

I like idea of a RF circuit . Is it only tuneable to only channel 3 , or can you select various channels in case you were to operate more than 1 camera and also use the RF for the monitors ?

I think you can tune only ch3 or 4 depending where you live.
