1969 007-style spy flick starring Dean Martin as Matt Helm, who is a spy who boozes, smokes, boozes, chases women, & boozes. Had a BEVY of late-Sixties B & C list pulchritude-Elke Sommer, Nancy Kwan, Tina Louise, & in her last role, Sharon Tate. The theme song is AWFUL, yet almost irresistably catchy, in a very late Sixties-Middle-Of-The-Road/Easy Listening-Hugo Montenegro-way. The then 45-year-old Martin kinda comes off as a letcher chasing 'tang half his age, & being besotted the whole time. For you gearheads, there's some good shots of a then-new Continental Mark 3, & one of those pagoda-roof Mercedes sports cars.

I distinctly remember watching the Matt Helm movies way back when. They were great fun for all of the reasons you listed. They strangely haven't showed up much on TV over the years, or I'm just watching the wrong channels.

Well, not really, but I ain't Dino & can't get away w/it...My wife would KILL me..That's the thing-in real life, he was reputedly as sober as a judge, & rarely strayed...It was all an act...

Those old Matt Helm movies are great. They made 3 of them, "The Silencers," "Murderer's Row," and "The Wrecking Crew." He definitely does alot of boozing. In one of them, I think it was "The Silencers", he has this station wagon (I think it was a Mercury) with a bar inside of it. He has this girl that's in the car with him fix him a drink while he's in the middle of a chase.

How 'bout "In like Flint" (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2808584192/tt0061810)with James Coburn, and it's sequel:tresbon:

Well - Matt Helm was an American response to James Bond. The same can be said for Flint (although Matt Helm was based on novels and Flint was not).

There is a mini-box set of the 3 Matt Helm movies. I picked it up from Amazon a while back.
