Seller is off by two decades or so but still this is a clean set and if B&W possibly rare?

It's in Sams 1357. It appears to have a click-stop UHF tuner and I see the word "Hertz" instead of "cycles" on the back. This is probably a '74 or '75 model. I find the description comical; but, at least the price is reasonable.

The seller is right about one thing, that set looks brand spankin' new.

On its back, it says "to service tubes remove back completely" so it has to be at least a hybrid. It is in nice shape.

Didn't zenith use the same all tube chassis for their b&w consoles from the mid 60's to about 1976? I seem to remember that they did.

I just checked my service manual to see what this chassis is all about. Never seen a 22DB36 before. Its a 1974 model, and that TV chassis is all tubes! I was shocked to see all the tubes on the chassis, no transistors, so yes, it is basically like a mid 60's b/w. At a glance I would have never guessed it to be a tube set, hybrid possibly but all tubes? Wow. uses the 3 6BZ6 IF strip. This must be the absolute last of a zenith all tube type chassis. Definitly worth the save and the price is perfect for a change.

One funny feature is that it is CSA certified for sale in Canada. Ever
encounter this kind of label on U.S. market TV sets? Hope you get it Dave,
kind of like a Checker sedan!

Man, I'd grab that one if it were closer, even though I have too many '60s/'70's B/W sets around. I like the style of it and it's so frickin' clean! Thanks for researching it Doug, I would have never thought it was all tube.

Zenith had at least one 23" b&w console set in the early sixties (1963), model K2739, with a light-through channel selector knob (the numbers were projected to a screen in the center of the knob by a small pilot light). I had one I picked up from a neighbor's trash in 1969, no tubes except CRT and HV rectifier, but one set of new tubes and it worked almost as well as it probably did when it was new. Very strong CRT, unusual for a 6-year-old early-'60s TV unless the set hadn't been used much before being trashed (the owner may have gotten a new color set to replace it, not unlike how folks are trashing, or selling on eBay or CL, perfectly good or restorable analog TVs today when they get a new flat-panel HDTV). Wonderful sound as well, with a 6BN6 and 6BQ5 in the sound circuits as well as a 6x9 oval speaker with a heavy magnet mounted in the TV cabinet below the CRT. The set worked so well after I retubed it I hated to have to give it up, but I moved three years later (1972) and had no choice; the house I moved to had no room for big TVs like that one. :no:

Is that TV's UHF tuner also a tube-type? It does look like a click-stop UHF tuner, but one with tubes would be an odd combination.

I've definitely seen the CSA label on U.S. market sets. I cannot recall a specific example.

Great. Someone got the seller to plug it in. Methinks a variac was not used.

Maybe a DTV converter was attached and no digi stations nearby. Yeah, right.

The gas will cost more than the set right now for a trip to central PA which is really northern W. Virginia. Stay tuned.

I know what you mean. Often, these bidders will run the bid up to some high amount and then don't pay. I had this happen on something I bought on epay once. Some zero feedback bidder kept running the bid up until he outbid me and then never paid. I wound up buying the item through a second chance offer. That pissed me off because I could have gotten the item cheap had some deadbeat SOB not run the price up. Of course, that whole ordeal could have been the work of a "shill bidder."

Now, I don't feel so bad about paying $50 for my B&W console at the thrift store.
