It is interesting to look at what constitutes a 'man' in a series or film from Hollywood these days. I cannot personally look at 99% of any of it to begin with for many other reasons, but one of the few real actors in a TV series is Alec Baldwin.

Having heard he was in the show, I watched about 15mins of '30 Rock' for the first and only time before the nerdy, ersatz-Saturday Night Live 'aren't we hip' humor drove me away, and Baldwin landed a good one, describing his school days, being sentenced to sweep sawdust in the basement with another student who is out of his mind. Even fat as Alec is now, he still has that 'I don't give a fuck' quality.

Baldwin in 'Glengarry Glen Ross' (when he was still lean and dangerous) is one of the many reasons I love that film: a completely unapologetic depiction of capitalism and of how it can take all the 'manly' attributes and turn people into animals in a heartbeat.
Baldwin's "You see pal. That's who I am and you are NOTHING" is, for my money, the best 'John Wayne' moment in years. Because he ain't kidding.

Eastwood is the last of the "real men" IMHO. Back in the old days however, a LOT of women including my own mother.....considered Clint a handsome MAN as opposed to a "pretty boy".
