I picked this one up today from Craigslist for $40. It's all there and I was told that the sound works but no picture. All I know is that it is a Magnavox model MV32C-1.
I have two questions;
1. Does anyone know what year this was made?
2. There are two switches on the back, one at the antenna and the second under the HV cover. Can someone tell me what these are for?
Thanks

Chris:
I believe that your set was made in 1953. The switch on the chassis is a tv/phono switch. The other switch probably switches between different internal antennas.

Actually now I am not sure about the above post. Is there a chassis number on it somewhere? Like Chassis 103?

It's a width switch. Some maggies had this, instead of a width control

Being a width switch would explain why it is over by the flyback! Interestingly many of the Maggie schematics do not show this.

The only numbers I have found on the chassis is a CT295AB, I'm not sure if this is the chassis#.

It looks like a 1951 to me. 1950 maybe. Impressive cabinet.

Chris:
It looks like there is a mistake in the Rider's manuals. They list it as a late Series 103 chassis but comparing the picture or your chassis to the Rider's chassis layout it looks like it is earlier like 1951 (Sorry, Kbmuri posted as I was typing this). Is that a 16 inch tube in it? Nasadowsk was correct in that being a width switch. It is not on the late chassis that Rider's calls a MV32.
Steve
BTW, at least I was correct about the antenna switch according to the book!

Yes it's a 16.For some reason I can't find it on Sams site.
What exactly does the Width Switch do?

It changes the size of the horizontal scan. In increments.

Yeah, the increments are 'too wide' and 'too narrow' :/
