Old1625 03-09-2008, 08:58 AM Sweet!
It would appear that it needs to have the deflection yoke straightened just a bit, but otherwise a nice "fly-in-the-amber" for a collector.
Carmine 03-09-2008, 01:57 PM I hope somebody saves it too... For some reason I like those later large-screen B&W sets. Probably cause I saw a lot of them in basements as a kid.
I hate my house's small basement!
drh4683 03-09-2008, 06:31 PM DO you want that set? Naperville is about 5 miles away.
jpdylon 03-09-2008, 07:08 PM I couldn't afford the shipping....
:(
Snade 03-09-2008, 08:05 PM I'm tempted. I'm also about 5 miles away in Wheaton, IL. My parents always bought Zenith sets from the late 50's, on. This set looks like the one we had when I was a kid in early 60's.

Carmine 03-09-2008, 09:14 PM DO you want that set? Naperville is about 5 miles away.
No room at the inn here, just hate to see it junked. One day I'll have a sanctuary for unloved TVs.
Sandy G 03-09-2008, 09:33 PM That WOULD be a shame to see it meet Mr. Dumpster...
cubdog 03-09-2008, 09:53 PM What do these usually sell for?

zenithfan1 03-09-2008, 10:21 PM I MIGHT save it if no one else does, not what I'm looking for but it's nice.
ChrisW6ATV 03-10-2008, 01:34 PM I hate my house's small basement!
I wish I had a basement at all. These darn California houses... I miss the houses in Chicago, though I never lived in one growing up there.
zenithfan1 03-11-2008, 10:32 PM Well, I bid on it...we'll see what happens....:scratch2:
I have a version of that set in a different cabinet, pic here (taken just after I refinished the top): http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=31089&d=1163979151 It's a great set, I use it all the time.
zenithfan1 03-12-2008, 09:53 AM That cabinet looks nice! Great picture too!
John Marinello 03-12-2008, 07:41 PM Where the hell is Naperville?
pioneernut 03-12-2008, 09:07 PM Naperville is about 30 miles south west of chicago near where I-355 and I-55 meet. I caught the topic on this, and man if I had the room too I'd snag that, but I'm just not much of a TV collector. I hope someone gets this besides the trash man.
bgadow 03-13-2008, 12:22 PM That's a joke, son.
zenithfan1 03-13-2008, 02:07 PM ends in 20 minutes.. wish me luck! looks like it might end at 99 cents!
Did anyone else notice the date the pics were taken? I didn't 'till now... makes me a little nervous. 1-14-06 was a while ago
hopefully the camera has the wrong date!
John Marinello 03-13-2008, 02:29 PM I'd bid on it, but not with gas prices the way they are. By the time I got it home, I'd probably have upwards of $1.98 into it... DOUBLE!!!
zenithfan1 03-13-2008, 03:20 PM I won the set for $10.55! not a bad price for a working set! I'll update after I get it.
jpdylon 03-13-2008, 09:45 PM I'm glad you were able to save it
kbmuri 03-15-2008, 05:10 PM Great score for ten bucks! This is another example of Zenith ultra-quality workmanship. A great B/W set that will go forever. Here's my '64, looks like practically the same one.

Sandy G 03-15-2008, 05:14 PM Awrite !! Great save !!
Dan Starnes 03-15-2008, 05:30 PM Glad you got the set. I was thinking about it also, but decided with fuel prices I did not want to add to my $800.00 a month fuel bill.
Dan
Tube TV 03-16-2008, 01:15 AM That was a nice score , especially for 10 bucks
Sandy G had mentioned Mr Dumpster .
With a cabinet like that , the other threat is Mr Fishtank . :thumbsdn:
Great to hear it has a good home .
Fisherdude 03-16-2008, 04:32 AM Always nice to see somebody do the honorable thing.:D
zenithfan1 03-23-2008, 06:41 PM I haven't been posting or doing much tv stuff for the last week as we had a family emergency. I just wanted to say that I went and picked it up last sat. and it looks better in person than in the pics! I will restore it to full operating condition in a month or so. I will update then, oh and btw, kbmuri, your set looks and works beautiful. I hope I can get this one going that nicely.
radotvguy 03-27-2008, 12:16 PM my grandmother had that same set. Unfortunatly it got thrown out twenty five years ago becuase it needed a picture tube and the repair told her it wasnt worth it . Wish i could have saved it , if that zenith was closer , i would take the drive and grab it .
