I have a 1950's TV that has a metal cabinet and it's in need of refinishing. It has a little rust on it, but it's basically in sound shape. I don't have the space or equipment to do it and I'm wondering if anyone could recommend someone.

Is that wood grained, or painted one color? If it's just painted, any body shop will do it if they have time. If it's wood grained, you need a woodgraining expert. I know an excellent one here in the Los Angeles area, and he ships. But if the cabinet is bigger than a small portable, it might cost too much to ship back & forth.

I'll echo Charles, if it doesn't have woodgrain find a body shop. That's what I do for a living, and would be glad to do a tv cabinet. You should be able to find one locally.

I had a body shop near me do my TK-31 camera sheetmetal. He was able to colormatch the original two-tone brown paint perfectly. He also though I was nuts when I brought it in. I think he did it to make me go away.

Thanks for the help! This is a solid color (grey/black) cabinet so it shouldn't be too difficult. I'll start calling around to the various body shops and see if I can find one that will do it for me.
