Read a post today in one of the AK vintage TV forums about the comedy team of Bob and Ray.

These guys were hysterical.

Found an excellent collection of Bob and Ray TV appearances on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bob+and+ray&search_type=).

Most of them are from Carson's Tonight Show.

Hint to younger AK members - you have to take the time to listen to the entire routine.

Bob and Ray were NYC icons. Late in their career (1960s early '70) they had an afternoon drivetime radio show on WOR. You could listen to their schtick every afternoon. Great stuff.

If you like Bob and Ray, you'd also probably like Washington DC's "Joy Boys" -- Ed Walker and Willard Scott. You may remember Willard Scott from other ventures.

Willard Scott, BTW, was the original Ronald McDonald in the DC area.

Bob and Ray are the sort of people that made this country great.
They represent the incredible intelligence of many of our previous generation Americans.
Bob's son Chris Elliot seems like a very nice young man, kinda funny sometimes but as usual the sons of great people seem to never reach a level anywhere close to what thier parents achieved.
Chris' TV show had some special moments of being hilarious but I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that was because of his father's input.
I'm not trying to put down younger people. I am trying to generate more attention towards those great people who will not be here as long as they should be. Those are the people who deserve all the credit for everything good today. Those are the people who are usually not given credit by the younger masses.

Always loved them. XM channel 151 frequently has on of their bits. They are as good now as then if you are appreciative of the ole style comedy like Fred Allen, Henny Youngman, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Sid Ceasar, Jack Parr, Steve Allen, Ernie Kovacs, Don Rickles, Johnny Carson..... They were funny and it wasnt every other word and expletive delete...... However in live performances I bet they could hold there own in the exp/del side.

10earThose were great days for TV, it was all fresh and new, and those guys were "trailblazers". :yes:

When you look at the bits that Bob and Ray did, it seams like they influenced a lot of people that came later. Skits by Monty Python, Garrison Keillor and especially Jerry Seinfeld have elements that could have been lifted right out of a Bob and Ray bit.
