Can any Canadians fill us in on this? If so, then those of us in the Northern states will still be able to use our oldies a while longer!
And what about Mexico?

Hello,

This official link should tell it all (from the Canadian side anyway):

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Notices/2007/pb2007-53.htm

Note the possibility of some analog transmissions in remote areas
beyond August 31, 2011, so TV DXers should keep their analog equipment
in top shape a few more years.

You might be interested in the fact that large electronics stores in
Canada are offering very few new TV sets with any kind of built-in
tuner. Most ads state in fine print that an external source is needed.

What if you use a satellite service like DirecTV? Will that be affected?

Great! I have a couple favorite stations by me, channels 9 and 32. Heck, who knows what else will come in, once the US goes off air and we have some clear channels.

That's a digital service already, witness the box you need to have.
