I had been looking for a DVD copy of the film shot by Roger waters at the 08-09-80 THE WALL concert at Earls Court. Film that was to be used for the upcoming THE WALL movie but never included. They used 6 cameras and from what I had been lead to believe this was pretty good stuff.

A VHS copy of this went around a while back the only copies I saw on ebay where while nicely packaged pretty expensive.

And way Google brings up an ad on CL where some guy is offering both the "THE WALL" film and on of the Concert in Pompeii for $18.00 I figure that's a decent deal so I contact him about shipping and I send him and extra $4.00 for shipping.

They arrive today LOL Two plain unlabeled DVD's in little slip covers. He also sent me a long list of other titles he had available.

SO without a doubt Bootlegs And while I'm not a stickler about legalities charging this much for something you stole seams a bit bold.

OH well maybe I'll forget when I see the one concert I could have never seen and have always wanted to.

The guy is indeed bold, charging so much for a bootleg. He is playing it close to the edge!

Was it what you were looking for? Or was it a cheap rip off of an already available DVD?

You knew what it was when you bought it, and you didn't have to buy it. Paying that much for something stolen seems a bit bold too.
I envision you two doing more business in the future.

Well Jack don't see how you get that from what I typed. I did not know what the DVD looked like nor did I know they were not produced buy someone authorized. I had no way of knowing the source of the DVD the ones I saw on eBay as I said had real nice art work and packaging.

These were two plain unmarked DVD disks in slip covers.

There was no photo of what I was buying in the ad.

Well unless your clairvoyant i guess.

There are sites on the internet where you could download such videos without having to pay money to a bootlegger. If you're not going to be paying the artist for their work, then at least you can avoid condoning the bootlegger who is trying to make a profit from something that does not belong to them.

Are these sites given permission by the people with the rights?

Well, there's a lot of gray area, with artists who haven't specifically given permission or bothered to specify what their policy is with regard to ROIOs of their performances. Other artists, such as The Smashing Pumpkins are pro-taping and have clearly stated their policy on their websites. Others have come forward and requested that their work not be traded on these open sites. These include Metallica, Santana, The Allman Brothers and Alanis Morissette to name a few.

I tried that first 2 days of trying to download 6.6gigs via a bit torrent thing appeared to be going to take about a week. And I didn't think that was a good use of my computers ability.
