Have had my VT-71 up and running for a few months now and use it about three hours a day. Would like to add a surge protector to the heater string and install a transformer to light the 7JP4. Should I use a resistor to compensate for the crt heater? What's a good value? Any sugestions on a surge protector? Part number?
Tnx for your advice
Terry

Hi Terry, if you are going to power the crt heater with a filament transformer you need to put in its place in the heater string a 10 ohm ,5watt resistor. I don't thing you need a surge protector since there is enough ballast resistance in series with the heater strings and b+.
