It looks like a table-top remote for GE sets. Channel and volume only. 9v battery op as described. Never saw this before. What did it run?

I have one of those remotes. It came in a box of junk from a TV shop over here. The TV is about a 1959-60 general electric console b/w. I remember seeing one at the resale shop when I was a kid. I must have been 10 or 11 and really wanted the set. the remote was with it too. It was a very narrow cabinet light weight console in an early american cabinet. It worked perfect and in great shape. It was $20.00 but mom was totally against me having it at the time. the remote all electronic, has a ferrite loop antenna, so I assume it transmits some kind of AM signal to the TV. Uses a standard 9v battery.
