Fair Radio Sales in Lima Oh. currently has nos picture tubes, here is a quick list. 14BP4A,8BP4,23CP4,21YP4,21AWP4,21DSP4,21XP4,21AVP4 A,5ABP4,23ANP4,17QP4A,20HP4A,20DP4C,21VP4A,21ZP4A, and 23YP4.These can be tested before shipping, as of right now, none have been checked. They also have a lot of crt's. most are white screen ( I was told some of the military crt's were kind of green)Some of these may work in tv's, I do not know. Yes, mine came from an extra I kept around for my(1949?)motorola 9vt1. My set caught on fire so I do not need it. This tube is the only one That I myself have. I am not sure what is a fair price for this(I only know tube radio prices).So PM me an price. Doug

No; not sure which one goes in the little 8PTxxx portables, but the 8BP4 is a round electrostatic tube that goes in the '49-'50 Motorola 8" sets. Same as a 7JP4 but 8".

I may have an extra tube from one of the metal 8" RCAs... Not sure, but I can check if you need. I have one I'm restoring, and one for parts. As long as the tube is OK in the one I'm keeping, I'd be happy to let go of the spare (if it's also good, of course)

How did your set catch fire? Was it the ballast tube? Mine always ran hot around the ballast tube. The ballast tube burned out and that is why my otherwise restored set is temporarily out of service.

Did you test your tube? The ion trap is very critical on these, even leaving the metal shield off will kill the picture.

Yeah, the tube's done for. I played with the trap for a long time, plus it's showing typical signs of being shot....

Fair Radio has 2 used 8BP4's, one has surface scratches on the screen, the other is clean.I can check for price on wed.I have a new 8bp4. It was tested for 5 hours in a working set. I am a radio person by hobby, I do not know picture tube prices. If you want the new tube, Make me an offer.

The 21AWP4 has no direct sub/crosses no other tube and of course I'm lucky enough to have a set with one that's weak. Another set of mine has a 20" rectangular tube that some clod ripped the base off of...IIRC the 20HP4 is a suitable replacement.

I am not sure why my set caught on fire. After I put the fire out I got ticked off and pitched it. I wish I still had it. It's almost like I am jinxed as far as tv's are concerned. That set burned up. My next one is the one I have been talking about in my other thread.I can not get the picture to work correctly. So I grabbed a different set and the flyback is dead. I can get one, but In my years of working on tube radios I have never had problem after problem. It seems like I am not destined to own a running tube tv.But, it is my mission, and with the help of people in this forum I will make it happen. Doug

I think my luck is reversed.. I made the tv in my avatar sing.. Now ive taken on a radio project. a Delco R1128 and i am literaly scratchin my head over it.
Not to mention someone was in it before me and they left stuff hangin and i cant make heads or tails of it.. This is what they left me....

TVs take a bit more time and patience to restore than a typical five tube radio. When I did my Motorola, I took it one section at a time. First the low voltage power supply. After all, nothing else will work without it. Next, the high voltage section and sweep circuits. This way, I could at least get a raster. Often times the set will work at this point but the signal circuits still have to be recapped. Restoring a TV is like eating an elephant, you gotta do it one bite at a time.

I've got access to some Military logistics data (all strictly Unclassified) and decided to pull the data for "P4" and "P22" phosphor CRTs. Attached are two PDFs with the raw logistics data. They are text searchable. Hope it helps!

What number do you need? The list That I started this thread with are pretty much all still still here. I tested most of them. Some are good, some did not make it.They are 40 dollars for what I had listed. But, there are some not listed. Dumont 10up4(If memory serves me correct) and many others. There are 21, 10,7,5,3 inch round crt's. (some do have military numbers)some do not. Your best bet is to call or E-mail Fair Radio. You would be amazed at what they have. They are military surplus but will buy large quantities of anything electronic in nature.A couple of years ago they bought out a old tv/radio shop.They still have some tv's left. Another AK member is just waiting for me to give him prices on the tv's and then he will help me out by posting them.Doug

Maybe everyone has thought of this, but, please keep in mind some of the pic. tube boxes have 3 or 4 numbers on them from the manufacturer.If you see a number close to what you need it is worth a shot to atleast check. Doug

I can test only mid size crt bases, as an example 17bp4. If it is electrostatic I can't test it. If Fair Radio has one we will always do money back if it is bad.
