This was once a very nice set. How rare is an admiral combo? This set is about a '68 or so? I remember there was one just like it in the basement of our church in Downers Grove. They used it in the youth room back in the late 80's-early 90's.

Too bad this one had the TV hacked out of it and put that zenith in there. Whats that zenith, something from around 1978 or so? Darn it all. I think this set even had the 6 function remote control. If it were complete and original, I might have considered it because its close to the house. Those do-it-yourselfer types managed to hack up their TV's every time.

I'm looking at Sams 1850 (Sept, '79) which covers a Zenith 19KC52 that looks like the one stuck in the Admiral. This particular set has the zoom function. Of course, it could be newer because my dad brought home a 1980 Zenith from the ditch that looked like this set but used the 9-160 style chassis. He had the 9-160 changed and it worked great. We wound up giving it to the church for the youth to use.

I really hate to see stuff hacked up like that Admiral is. I used to find a lot of combos around here that were either missing the TV or had a newer set installed.

PS -- Wasn't the Zenith K line the last of the fold down CCII chassis? I do remember seeing a couple of '79 23" Zenith consoles with the single knob tuner. All they had was "Zenith" on the front. There was no mention of "Solid State - Chromacolor II" as the older ones were. But, they had the fold down chassis. I think one was a November, '79 model.
