I left my old Sony at my parents home in NJ when I moved out west 20 years ago. It is beginning to act up with an audible hiss that comes and goes and nearly drowns out the audio.

Sony model #KV1981K, I am trying to talk Mom out of just tossing it and save it till I drive home so I can bring it back out here.

Is it worth the trouble???

Surprising that no other members have chimed in... Old Sony's are great sets as long as the crt is still good.

If yours is still strong, then why not attempt to repair a minor audio problem? That shouldn't be too tough... Could be the power supply to the audio out or something drifting in the tuner/if section.

Personally I'd have a look at it, there are too many wayy worse tv's filling up our landfills as it is. Try and save another old tv!

Hey 20/20, It's up to you, but I think the 70's and 80's Trinitrons (in particular the 19 inchers) will be collectible for their vintage style and quality.

Here is one I picked up for its beauty and I plan to keep in the family room for a long time just hooked up to get local stations with some rabbit ears - a vintage setup that brings back good memories and the picture quality is very good with warm colors.

i have a 19 year old sony that i got from cleveland john. best picture i ever saw on a sony. use it in the garage when we are fixing cars. we dont see too many old sonys in columbus so i is a treat to get one. i will post pics soon. keep them going!!
