I am in the process of restoring a VT-71M-A with the TS-4J chassis. It appears that there had been a flash fire under the chassis, as the area under the capacitor cans is badly damaged. Most of the components are black and insulation is gone from much of the wiring in that area.

Anyway, as I was going over the set, replacing wires, caps and resistors, I found out that the L-30 video detector assembly is missing. It's a group of components in one of the cans on top of the chassis. It contains a diode, some resistors and a couple of coils. The can is there, but it is empty. I'm wondering if anyone may have one they'd be willing to part with, or know where I might find one. I'm pretty sure I can get this set up and running, but it won't work without that L-30 assembly.

BTW, the assembly is the same one used on the 9T1, and I assume the VT-73.

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks,
Rod

I think if you've had a fire under there, I'd just replace the chassis... Those are fairly common, and I'd guess that someone here would have one with a bad cabinet for very little cost. If you get a TS-18, you'll get the 12-channel tuner which will be nicer than the TS-4's 5 or 6-channel tuner.

Well, another chassis would be OK....if one should turn up I won't turn it down.

Hi Rod,

I have a spare TS-4J chassis. PM me if you are interested.
