Bought this set at the same place as the color set (set early color television) and need to know when it was made? Its model # 32X36 . The lady couldn't remember for sure. She thought in the late 40's . I notice the turntable has been replaced. Sure would like to have the orginal but couldn't find it. Appreciate all the info i can get on these sets.
Thanks,Don

Hi Don
Nice set! I'd like to find one local like it. I've got it's older brother which is a great everyday set. http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=67156 I like watching TCM on it.
Good luck with it!

Thanks Terry for the reply. I'm sure going to keep it. Going to see if i can get it restored this winter. She took real good care of it and mommy said i could put it in the living room. My wife likes it that much. Sure hope i can find the orginal turntable for it. Got the paper work for it now. Was yours very hard to restore?
Thanks. Don

The big thing was the shorted power transformer. Once it was replaced and recap it kinda worked. Replaced a bunch of resistors and it was alot better. Then every so often it would fail. Last time it would loose vert sync and it ended up being a mica cap between the vert osc and sync was leaky. Drove me nuts!!!! That was about six months ago. Has been working great since. Over all it wasn't bad but it was a lot of work. I do get alot of enjoyment out of watching it.

The changers for these come up from time to time on Ebay. Just keep your eye out as you'll find one in no time. Nice combo!

Got to say one thing for sure . The info here is unreal!!. Sure hope this Admiral wasn't as nasty as the one we had when i was growing up. Seems it was out everytime we turned it on. It was a later model . Mid 50's or so.
Thanks. Don
