This 53? Philco.
I've had this thing for 10 years, originally had a vertical problem, recapped and got that working but it has no video whatsoever.
I don't know if I caused it while recapping or if it didn't have any video before I started.
I have spent many hours looking for the problem, it doesn't help that the schematic doesn't match the chassis. It's the same up to the video output tube then it's totally wrong!
I would like to just find another R.F. Chassis and start over

Here's the evil monster!
:uzi: :puke:  :bash: :twak: :headscrat :pistols: :dammit:
Looks innocent enough doesn't it?
I guess this is partly a rant and partly a want ad :D
It's a model RF 81 if anyone happens to have one

Eric,
I have the service manual for that chassis, I can send you a scan of the video schematic section.
Just let me have an email address to send it to.

Thanks Chuck, is this a factory manual?
I have a Sams and a Wallace and they both disagree with the chassis.
This particular one is from "Run 10" so it's a late production and maybe that is why it doesn't match up?
They list the revisions but that doesn't make it any easier to follow without some pictures :(
I will P.M. you with my address.

It's a factory service manual. There are no references to any run numbers.

Eric,
if it makes you feel any better... it is a very clean and nice looking chassis! :D

Hi Chuck, I got the scan, thanks a million :D
At first glance it looks like this might be more correct than the others, I will have to dig into it later, tonight hopefully.
I stopped at the Lectronics store and picked up a new Detector Diode just in case. I tried replacing it in the past but I only had a used one.
If that's what's wrong with it I'll have to smack myself upside the head for being a dummy. :p:

You know that feeling when you finally figure out something that's been dogging you for a long time?
Well that's what I'm feeling now! :yippy: :yippy:
After 10 years give or take I finally got to see a picture on the screen of this set!!
Chuck, I owe you big time! Your scan did the trick.
Turned out to be a wrong connection.
The wire that comes off the 4.5mc trap and was SUPPOSED to go to the 3900 ohm 7W resistor I had somehow managed to screw up and connect it to one of the sections of the Electrolytic can :dunno:
Here's a screen shot taken right after I got it working.

Way to go Eric! That was the same feeling I had when I fixed that Motorola floor model!

Eric,
Glad to hear it was the correct schematic.
Nothing like dumping the video back into the B+ line:dunno:

The sound got mostly knocked out years ago when I arced across something in my blundering around.
I found the problem tonight, the 6T8 detector tube had one section completely dead!
Apparently when I shorted something it blew the tube out. (heater was working no emisson)
