I know exactly when it was sold. 1965 Color TV sales was really moving in this year and RCA probably sold more of this style than any other in that year. I worked on many of these.

Because it is old and needs work.

At worst, it needs a new CRT. The fact that it gets sound and any picture at all is a very good thing. :)

I'd still like to spend an evening with that beaut: a dark room, cross-hatch generator, diddle stick :)
