It's a U.S. Television Model T525.

Man what a screen size! I don't think I've ever seen a vintage projection set with an almost modern looking screen that is that big. I tend not to have interest in projection sets so I am ignorant to a lot of their charicteristics.

How big is that screen. Just a guess I would think 24" or better.......

I've never seen this wood version with the pop-up... I've had & seen 4 or 5 of the 7'-tall leatherette box style UST Window to the World sets.

I have some additional info on this set on my web site:

http://www.myvintagetv.com/united_states_television.htm

It is a huge set, but picture quality is fair.

And even that doesn't help the brightness on this set.

This set is dimmer because it uses an f 1.9 lens instead of a reflecting mirror.

There are pictures and a description of the CRT and lens assembly in Chapter 11, 'Projection Receiver Systems' on pages 226 and 227 of the 1953 McGraw-Hill book 'Principles of Television Servicing' by Rabinoff and Wolbrecht.

I wonder how bright the picture would be if a 5AZP4 or a 4820A CRT were installed?

Been there, done that, no improvement....
