$1,713.88 with 3 days left to go, still hasn't hit the reserve. I'm thinking paying off some bills or a car instead or at least a very nice plasma tv, or would that last idea be considered heracy here?

Wow... I know a person here in CA who just sold one this year; mint condition and was working in the past 10 years. He sold it to another collector for under $1000, after I passed on it. I didn't think they were that valuable... I've had at least 4 or 5 of them, including 3 that I got from one collector in Burbank for $100. I guess too bad I didn't keep them.

I guess there are many different philosophies of collecting. I myself could never have sold all of the 21CT55s I had because I wouldn't have anything left after that. Since this is the rarest color TV except for some prototypes, if I had one and sold it there would be nothing to replace it with. The way it works with me is if I acquire a rare set and need to make room I sell the least rare one automatically and don't think about it afterwards.

thats a lot of money for a older tv . I cant say i would ever be spending that kind of money on a tv . Damm !! , 2,700 for a tv , i would have sold it in a heartbeat !!!!!

If the only manufacturer of color TV sets in the 50s was RCA, yes.

But without doublechecking I think there are more CTC2-Bs accounted for than all the remaining CBS-Columbia 15- and 19-inch production models combined.

Then there's models from Westinghouse (rectangular 22"), General Electric etc. that quite literally never show up anywhere...but sure would be rare when and if they do.

The RCA Model 5 at Estes Auctions went for $10,500 a couple of months ago, and prewar black and white sets go for more than that.

I'm sure his reserve reflects that TV is perfectly restored to full operating condition with correct type CRT. Althogh other tvs are rarer, 21" tubes can still be found and ones newer which offer better contast. Those screen shots are amazing, if I was in the market for this set, I would gratefully buy from him. That ct-100 sold restored recently had most of its value in crt being good. This tv is rarer, has bigger screen, and nearly same chassis as ct-100. I'm surprised set didn't go for more.
