Got my first roundie today - an RCA GF631M, probably late 1964, 21FJP22 CRT. There's a TV shop that is closing in Virginia Beach, and I got the TV from them - 25 dollars. They even threw in a NOS degaussing Globar that was taped to the CRT face. The model tag is intact on the back. Haven't plugged it up yet. While there, I saw a professional studio photo of the same set - turns out some production company used it as a prop. I'm not sure what the production was - movie, TV or print, but I'll be looking. It's got the wrong legs - mine are squarish and they should be round.

I hauled away two other TV's in the same lot, a FREE :D 19" Setchell Carlson BW Console(ette?) and a luggable 19" Dumont BW portable for 5 dollars (I offered 10, he talked me down to 5).:thmbsp:

So now I guess my 6BK4 quotient is at a "1" - funny thing is, short of a CRT or flyback, I have nearly every part for this set in NOS condition, just waitin' to be used...

Early Color sets used a 6BK4 as a High Voltage Regulator Tube.

The more round tube sets one has, the higher the quotient of 6BK4's. Some of these nice folks here have (along with some really wonderful sets) a High 6BK4 quotient. Me, a "1" - but on my way to "2" hopefully.

Yagosaga, us Americans are just plain weird sometimes! Brian, I knew just what you were talking about, though! My quotient is getting pretty high...that's a great find. I really enjoy those tv shop finds because the guys always have such good stories to tell and are almost always friendly. But I've never pulled a color roundie out of such a shop. The Setchell-Carlson is probably a neat set, too. They sure danced to a different drummer.

Congratulations on your GF631M!!! What is the chassis (CTC) number? Hope you don't find any "shorts" with the crt or other components.

It's a CTC-16E. I haven't spent even a minute with it yet - it's at my dad's place, and I'll post pix tomorrow nite. I spent this evening getting my Dumont luggable up and running - lots of variac time at 30, 50, 70 percent before firing it off. Wonderful pix - will post the pictures over in the BW Forum tomorrow.

The Setchell is an old institutional (school or prison, maybe?) It has a locking panel over the controls - I got both keys. More on that in the BW forum when I get to it.

6BD4 quotient - ZERO - no CT-100 here. Had a CTC-5 given to me in the 1980's, but in a moment of very bad karma, I gutted it :tears: for the mahogany cabinet. 20 years in purgatory for that, I'm sure.

3 or 4 I THINK! That's one area of my collection I really really need to consolidate and organize!! - I've got tubes all over the place!!!
