Wow, the focus/picture is great on those CRT's. You're really lucky when you get good CRT's!

The picture on your RCA roundie looks reasonably good to me, if not perfect. Those round color tubes worked well for a start in color TV; I once had a Silvertone with an RCA CTC-12 chassis (but alas, without that nice light-through channel selector) which also had a round tube. However, I never had a really good picture on it, since the convergence was bad and eventually I was getting hum bars in the picture, not to mention color-sync problems that I could often temporarily correct by turning the tint control to the end of its range and back to the other end, when the color would jump out of sync). I never did get that set working right, though (the video output tube [6AW8] went bad and when I tried to replace it I pressed just a bit too hard on the socket, causing it to break out of the video PC board with a sickening crunch. :( Needless to say, I eventually junked the set (actually, I left it behind when I moved in 1975).

BTW, I think your set is working just fine for having been made in the mid-60s. I do not think, however, as heathkit tv mentioned, that your set needs to call the AARP (I'm sure that was meant as a joke). In fact, every one of those screen shots looks good from where I sit. Did you snap those pictures from an off-air signal? The reason I'm asking is that, from the position of the UHF channel selector, you must have been watching WRGT-TV Fox 45 (the companion station to WKEF-TV NBC-22) in Dayton at the time. Looks like the light behind the VHF channel selector is out, since I did not see the "U" or "UHF" in the VHF selector while the UHF tuner was operating.

The reason I know there is a Fox 45 in Dayton, and the channel/call sign of that station and of Dayton's NBC television network affiliate, is that I have seen their web site at NBC's own site [via the "local stations" link]. I thought I'd put this in so you wouldn't wonder how I know about TV stations 250-300 miles downstate from me (I live in northeastern Ohio, 30 miles from the city of Cleveland and 45 miles from the area's TV transmitters--the reception here is so bad nearly everyone in the village, myself included, has cable).

Oh yeah, one more thing (ala Peter Falk's Columbo). Where do you find the room to store all the RCA roundies you have now, not to mention the two sets you said you'll eventually get? :dunno: Those sets look like consoles, so they aren't small.

i have a large storage in my shop over on the other side of i75
and that set was tuned to wrgt at the time.it needs a bit of adjustment and minor repairs.
has weak burst and a dirty tuner to deal with too.
