No, I wasn't watching channel 7 when it went dead, but apparently it happened a little before 11PM Sunday night. Reports on other channels mentioned that it seemed that a studio light in the news studio blew up and set fire to something flammable nearby. Building was evacuated as you'd expect. Their transmitter is in another building (Empire State) and is transmitting a black screen and silence on audio, ie, dead air for the past hour and a half. Reports that there are no injuries, so far.

I wasn't watching when it happened either; however I put it on at about 12:30 AM and they had up the colorbars. It almost appeared as if they signed off for the night, like all stations used to. Glad everyone got out okay though...

And they were up by this morning :)

The newscasts are being done from a little desk in some other room.

I hear they were up around 3 or so this morning.

Not bad - but then, WABC isn't exactly a backwater station!
