I need some opinions on a JVC 25" TV made in 1984. Model is AV-2600US. Was JVC considered to be robust and reliable at that time? Any known problems? There's one on eBay right now, and it looks to be in perfect, like-new condition, which is very hard to find nowadays.

This TV was a top-of-the line model by JVC in 1984. It has all the good features, such as stereo, three video inputs, and speaker amp output.

How's the picture quality in this one?

If this is a good TV, what about the JVC HR-D725U Hi-Fi VCR, which may be a good complement, since they were both made in the same year.

Thanks for your help.

The closest set I've used was an AV2672S from '92. Found it with a blown vertical so I replaced the IC and a few other parts. Gave it away, probably still running somewhere. I feel JVC was a great product and their direct-view sets from the beginning right up until the late 90s were pretty damn reliable, or very easy to repair. Don't know about the tubes, who they OEM'd from, etc...

That being said, this particular one looks interesting, and is definitely worth it if it is reasonably repairable or operational. Would make a nice old PC monitor

Pretty good sets, if I remember correctly. I also remember replacing a lot of electrolytics, and back then the heat got to the solder. Warm up the iron and hit 'em with a dab of fresh solder

A friend of mine had one of those sets many years ago and it had good color quality. I remember back in '04 seeing a 20-inch JVC set from the same era, but the big difference was that it was a multisystem model, complete with a multilingual manual.
