I watched both of these movies in the past few days. I've seen both many times. I swear, few movies ever make me laugh out loud like these two do. Are they the greatest movies ever? Heck no. But they are hilarious. The practical jokes in both movies are so funny (and could easily have been me and my two brothers), and the bloopers at the end had me rolling in the floor laughing.
I put these movies in a class with others that I never tire of watching anytime I catch them on TV or video. Others for me include:
Arthur
Original MASH Movie
Blazing Saddles
most Monty Python

I love those two flicks, and the older I get the funnier they are! When the two of them find out their buddy has died in his sleep of a stroke; "Lucky SOB!" I didn't think that was funny originally... Now I not only find it funny, but true.
I'll nominate one more to the "anytime, anywhere" category - Caddy Shack.

Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon are two of the greatest comedic actors of all time, may they both rest in peace.
I always loved those movies. I have them on Video tape, but I will buy them on DVD sometime.
Oh, putting a fish in the car isn't as subtle as the movie might make one think. The funk knocks you down after a week or so. :)

Out of the 48 bazillion movies in our house, those two are in the top 5 watched here. My kids pretty much know every word verbatum.
Both of them always leave me laughing and that's not an easy task.

Sophia Loren & Ann-Margret added a lot to those movies, but in the end, even they just had to sit back, get out of the way & let Walter & Jack do their thing. Those 2 guys had some of the best chemistry EVER.
