I'm the guy who is usually selling flybacks. Well now that I need one. No go! Actually I never had this one when I bought the Thordarson surplus.

My set is around a 1956 Maggie with a CTA492AA chassis. Yep! One of those headache vertical chassis. Everything comes out as a unit which is usually nice, but no matter what you need to get at for repair other than a tube will require CRT removal.

Anyhow, the Sams folder I have lists the fly as a Stancor A-8295 as the one to have other than OEM 380623 because the Thordarson FLY-79 may cause unsuficient width and Sams recommends some tweaking to fix the problem. I don't want any more problems..

I used this set regularly back in the early 90's until the night the screen went dim and the smoke rose from the HV can. I need to remove the crt and check all of the components in the HV/Horiz sections. A bad cap or a resistor either one could overheat the flyback.

Shouldnt a good flyback perform almost room temperature? No signifagant heat, right?

The main thing is, does anybody that have this flyback? I've got a lot of NOS flys and yokes. I would make someone a generous trade if they need anything. Lots of tubes as well.

Hi. I'm new to the forum. I'm sorry I don't have what you're looking for, but I am very interested in that you sell parts and would like to know if you have a Flyback for a Magnavox T815-09 Chassis--25" Color Console. This should be Circa 1980.

This is the newest set I have and it is my "Daily Driver". Funny thing is that the cabinet is an exact copy of my RCA New Vista Blonde Provincial Console TV, Circa 1958.

Any help with this Flyback would be appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.

Do you know for sure it was the Fly smoking, maybe a resistor cooked or something easy like that. :yes:

Thanks for responding. It turns out that the Critical Capacitor, on
the Retrace Module, literally "blew it's top". So, Eric you were correct in
suggesting to look elsewhere. Evidently, it's amazing that this was still the original, as they often blew, even when the set was younger.

I had a spare updated cap that was able to be used. The set
is up and running again. The pic on this is great, and I use this
as my main TV. I want to keep it going for as long as possible.

I'm still interested in getting a Flyback and even a Tripler, to keep
as spares, just in case. The Model number of the TV doesn't come up
anywhere I search, but the chassis number, seems to be
acknowledged. Is there any source to research model numbers, etc?

I attached a pic of the 1980? Magnavox and the RCA New Vista Roundie circa 1958-1963? I just think it's cool that Magnavox copied the original RCA Cabinet design.

Moyers Electronics (www.moyerelectronics.com) is an electronics distributor in PA that still stocks many NOS parts. If you email them with your need they will get back to you with availability. Many of us have had sets saved by their efforts.

I would think someone would still have the parts for this set. I have a pretty good stash of NOS parts myself, including some Magnavox modules. I don't think I have any flybacks for this set, though. Most of my stuff is organized by part number; if you can come up with a list (from the label inside the set, or from the Sams Photofact) we could work on finding them that way.
