Sony KV-3000R
Helping my boss with a project, trying to find specs on Sony KV-3000R. Does anyone have a manual or design layout, parts description? I know the basics, but what makes it worth more for trying to appraise it? also is it the name plate solid gold or plated, etc.? its number 275 of 1000.
Would anyone know where to start in selling a mint condition one with both remotes and the side cart? Have not turned on yet (so there is a chance it is not so mint haha), is there anything we should be wary of prior to doing so, has not been turned on in at least five years. |

Didn't know they made a KV-3000, I have the KV-4000 portable and it might be similar inside.

I remember when that beast came out. 10 kilobucks IIRC.
Never sold one, fixed one or thank god never had to move one. The cabinet specs were above TOTL. Real everything. Price so high even the welfare queens couldnt afford one. Must weigh 300-400 lbs. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |

I would be on it. As for the chassis odds are its the XBR chassis with some add ons. I doubt they did a new chassis to build 1 or 2 K of them. A few good nudies of the guts may help ID it & see if its safe to bring up the set slow. |

XBR was sony's top of line chassis. Not everyone could sell them.
To be an XBR dealer in the 90's we had to display them & keep an unopened backup in stock. Expensive but due to a gentlemans agreement also good profit ! For pix just pull the back being careful not to hit the CRT neck. Lots of light & different angles. Zeno LFOD ! |

What is the chassis of that gem? Sony made some really nice consoles and that is the nicest I've seen yet! WOW! Definatly not the little KV series I was thinking. Wish I could get that one here!

Kv 3000 r
The chassis is the same as the CVM 3000 commercial grade monitor.
That console is on my list of grail sets for sure! By the way it weighs 510 pounds. If anyone is lucky enough to acquire one, be very careful when moving it; if the console is tipped too much (like going on a ramp etc.), the tama wood will be ripped off the bottom sides of the cabinet. Not something to entrust to just any amateur mover! Also, do not use a variac on Sony Trinitron sets; under about 90 volts they can be severely damaged !
