JVC/Victor HR-W5 W-VHS Machine found!
I was not expecting to find one of these for cheap, even in Japan.

Supports 1035i or regular 480i. It was about 1700 Japanese Yen, or about $20CAD. Good luck finding one ANYWHERE at that price. The front bezel face has popped out of its screw mounts but that's fairly easy to deal with. What isn't however is it's massive. The photos give the scale and it weighs almost ten kilograms. It's a beast and doesn't fit in my luggage. I am planning to give it to a friend back in Canada in exchange for an NEC PC-98 series machine already in North America. |

Holey smokes! If you could find another one or a DVHS deck at that price I'd be happy to double your money.

Aaaaaand, it's back in Canada!
Suprisingly Air Canada was A-OK with it coming on the plane as carry-on luggage as when in a suitable sized shopping bag it just oh so perfectly fits in the test fit basket for the smaller size carry-on baggage. |
